Benny Hinn renounces prosperity gospel, says ‘Holy Ghost is just fed up with it’
Declaring that the “Holy Ghost is just fed up with it,” controversial televangelist Benny Hinn, formerly one of the most aggressive proponents of the prosperity gospel, has for the first time in his career, delivered a full-throated rejection of the practice that made him and his family millions.

The prosperity gospel teaches, among other things, that believers have a right to the blessings of health and wealth, and they can obtain these blessings through positive confessions of faith and the "sowing of seeds" through the faithful payments of tithes and offerings.

Speaking to his followers during a Facebook Live broadcast on Monday night (which was first highlighted by Larry Reid Live), Hinn, who has long been a lightning rod for criticism for his support of the theology, declared the Gospel “is not for sale.” ...

Let's hope he goes the whole route and gives back most of the money. He should sell off assets and give them to ministries which properly teach the Word of God. I do appreciate this move towards truth. We get these guys recently who are leaving the Faith publicly and then we get Benny moving towards it. I hope the best for him.

Just a Guy from MS....

You make a good point to be cautious about his sincerity until shown otherwise. It just takes time because we don’t know his heart. I will say I feel somewhat wronged by him personally because my grandmother was big into Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn. She gave a lot to those guys while living in a nice trailer with just some basics. She wasn’t rich and she threw money at them that she could have used on something else. Even felt guilty when she didn’t give “enough”. I blame Hinn somewhat and her mostly for falling for his false doctrine. That scenario is repeated thousands of times over by other people who were duped by him. If he is truly sorry, you think he would do like the tax collector and give it all back.

It seems that Benny has pulled this repentance gambit back in 1994!
the Berean Call staff wrote:

Some of his [Benny Hinn's] statements, such as that a woman was originally designed to give birth from her side, or that Adam and Eve were super beings who could fly to the moon, are not heresy but ludicrous blunders. Yet Hinn claimed that most of them as well as the heresies above came as direct revelation from God under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. To attribute such errors to the Holy Spirit is blasphemy of which he has not repented. That Hinn’s alleged “Holy Spirit” teaches error and folly should be enough to discredit his book about “the anointing of the Holy Spirit,” yet it has been a runaway best seller. So while we don’t judge Hinn’s heart, his repentance and renunciations have to date fallen far short of truth.

He has a lot more than the prosperity Gospel to repent of

Benny doesn’t need my forgiveness. He needs God’s forgiveness and the forgiveness of the thousands of people he has ripped off over the years.

So many here gave excuses on why they would NEVER forgive Benny Hynn."

If someone walked up to you and said, "I just robbed the bank, can you forgive me" you wouldn't really have a reason to forgive him, as he didn't do anything against you...

Just so Benny Hinn didn't do anything against anyone here (that I know of) so we can't really do anything in the area of forgiveness...

However, I believe we should always be cautious when people of great wickedness claim to have come to the light. Does that make me unforgiving? No, it just makes me cautious. I don't want to claim people as children of God until Christ has clearly shown His light through their actions and words...

I pray that the Lord has saved his soul, but I certainly won't be naive enough to think a few statements represent a change of heart...

Benny Hinn is not my enemy, he is God's enemy. I don't even know him and have never met him. He hasn't stolen from me or any of my loved ones.

He has preached a false gospel to 10s of thousands and has stolen money from the rich and the poor.

Now if you are curious, why don't you google what it means to be an enemy of God and His Son. (notice the Psalms and David)

If you think that Benny Hinn is my brother in the Lord, then you are clueless. If you want further thoughts on this, then please email me.

If you suspected that a Christian site would reject your thoughts, then that means there is a good chance that you are simply wrong.

Unless you respond to this, I will in fact ignore you.

But if this were a valid excuse, every one of us could avoid the call to love, and we do avoid it as pointed out by so many people here on unwillingness to forgive Benny Hynn.

I am not called to love my neighbor because he or she is holier than other people
I  am not called to love them because they make me happy
I am called to love them out of reverence for God.

So many here gave excuses on why they would NEVER forgive Benny Hynn. They would never even make an opportunity for forgiveness and just make excuses.

You unbiblical wretched sinner, you might never meet the real Benny Hynn, but you will meet the Benny Hynn who is homeless, divorced, addicted to drugs, a thief, unlovable, native American, black ghetto rapper, bully, Jewish CEO of a billion dollar company  and you would with all joy in your heart close the doors of your heart to him, and gossip about it with your other wretched Christians while espousing how saved and born again you are because you have "faith" while telling another believer who looks at your hypocrisy and gets doubts that he was never saved in the first place!

Your sins are just dripping from every keystroke

Yes bro, it is no surprise to me that the love of money is the root of all evil; it can even override the fear of God, or even belief in the existence of God.

Good morning John,

I believe you're quite right. Scripture makes it clear that there are different levels of eternal punishment, and how harsh that punishment must be for those who wilfully lead others to their destruction. We're all, in the end, responsible for our own selves, because God made His Word available to all, so claims of ignorance, or being duped, won't fly, but woe to those who do the duping.

How many use God Almighty in their get rich quick schemes? They've reaped their temporary, earthly reward, but they'll be finding out one day, very unfortunately, how their passion for riches through deception, exacts a heavy, eternal toll. Tragic.

Benny Hinn, Joyce Miers, Paula White, Joel Olsteen, and all the other radio preachers ( both good and mediocre) that asks for money , it is sinful that an average church of 250 members are hard pressed to provide for a pastor, and efforts of a body of believers to be the hands and feet of Christ. Lord bless an active church efforts.

I am trying to be fair to this chap, and yet I often find myself drawn to the hard liners here that think this guy is just totally apostate. Here is my take on this Benny Hinn, who I have watched videos and heard sound recordings of, and have seen live in person on a couple of occasions.

1). I actually have heard in one or two occasions, this man actually preach a fairly good gospel sermon, and have seen a video where he laid into Joel Osteen over the latter not knowing about the uniqueness of the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way to be saved!!

2). However, to offset that, the false prophecies, prosperity doctrines and other outrageous teachings of this man, have deceived many and caused a great deal of heartache and confusion.

3). I do wonder, along with John from U.K., if Benny Hinn’s nephew’s book, (Costi Hinn), now a fully Reformed Evangelical pastor who attacks his uncle’s. theology has indeed got anything to do with this sudden “change” of theology. We will see!! Tragically, there has been very much damage already.

I wonder if this has anything to do with his nephew's recently published book which exposes this fraudster and his tricks for all the world to see. He spent a year on the road with his uncle, so he knew exactly what went on "backstage" at major events.

Certainly looks like Benny is looking for a Last Shot of Fame before he shuffles off this mortal coil. He used to be on TBN constantly, only to be pushed aside by Joel Osteen and Joseph Prince, who some people say are other prosperity preachers.
I think they are using ideas brought up in the last century by the New Thought people like Frances Scovell Shinn, and others. Many secular teachers, even those used in business motivational programs, use this same line of thinking.
Favorite Bible verse of theirs: "As a man thinketh, so is he"
and favorite Jesus incident: when the friends of the sick guy opened a hole in the roof and lowered their sick friend to where Jesus was teaching. What does the Bible say there? "Seeing their faith, Jesus healed him" Amazing that 'their faith' was involved, wasn't it.
2nd fav Jesus incident: the woman who touched the hem of Jesus garment when he was already surrounded by many people who were touching him. That one touch sent power out to heal the woman, and Jesus stopped mid-way in his walk, said, 'who touched me' and the disciples were astonished--here he was surrounded by many people touching him! No, what happened was that her faith had caused his power to go out. Amazing, isn't it, that Jesus knew it.

Benny Hinn has presented a false gospel for many years and has confused and misled 100s of thousands of people. He has become extremely wealthy by defrauding the unsaved for years. I have absolutely nothing to show me Hinn is saved; therefore his repentance means absolutely nothing even if he was sincere.

If Benny is abandoning the prosperity gospel, I feel obliged to follow suit. That’s why I’m practically giving away my book “How God Wants You to Grow Rich as a Possum Farmer” now for a love offering of only $499.99, and I’ll even throw in a free prayer Kleenex (sorry, I’m all out of the handkerchiefs). If you order in the next seven days, you’ll also receive a coupon for 50 percent off on any order for ten dollars or more at Possum-fil-A. To show that I’m sincere about living a life of poverty, I’m taking all of the diamond ear studs off of my goats and donating the proceeds from their sale to the tax-exempt Dr. Tim Evangelistic Association.

He really needs a Barnabus in his life right now! Because it seems few really believe him.

"And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus."
Acts 9:26‭-‬27 NKJV

Let's not forget, love hopes and believes all things.
