Evangelicals chafe at Trump’s blasphemy
Paul Hardesty didn’t pay much attention to President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Greenville, N.C., last month until a third concerned constituent rang his cellphone.

The residents of Hardesty’s district — he’s a Trump-supporting West Virginia state senator — were calling to complain that Trump was “using the Lord’s name in vain,” Hardesty recounted.

“The third phone call is when I actually went and watched his speech because each of them sounded distraught,” Hardesty, who describes himself as a conservative Democrat, said.

Here’s what he would have seen: Trump crowing, “They'll be hit so goddamn hard,” while bragging about bombing Islamic State militants. And Trump recounting his warning to a wealthy businessman: “If you don't support me, you're going to be so goddamn poor.” ...

"EVANGELICALS" ?

YOU MEAN +++PHARISEES+++ !

"BLASPHEMY" ?

BLASPHEMING WHO ?

THAT IS, BLASPHEMING WHO'S god ?

OR IS TRUMP JUST "BLAPHEMING" HIS OWN HUMAN SELF ?

OR "BLASPHEMING" ANOTHER HUMAN BEING ?

"Jesus Answered Them (The Jews), Is It Not Written In Your Law, I Said, Ye Are gods ?

If He Called Them gods, Unto Whom The Word Of God Came, And The Scripture Cannot Be Broken;"--JOHN 10:34-35 !

SAY YE OF HIM; THAT IS, +++THE TRUMP OF GOD+++, THOU BLASPHEMEST; BECAUSE HE, +++THE TRUMP OF GOD+++, SAID:

"goddamn" ?

NOW, AS FOR A U.S. PRESIDENT LIKE HARRY S. TRUMAN [DEMOCRAT] SAYING OF ANOTHER U.S. PRESIDENT, RICHARD M. NIXON [REPUBLICAN], CALLING HIM (NIXON) A:

"SHIFTY-EYED goddamn[ed] LIAR";

WELL,

THOSE ARE STRONG WORDS,

YEA FIGHTING WORDS,

IN THE SOUTH-CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE I WAS RAISED !

AKIN TO ISRAEL'S KING SAUL CALLING HIS VERY OWN SON, JONATHAN:

"THOU SON OF THE PERVERSE REBELLIOUS
WOMAN"--1 SAMUEL 20:30c !

AS, SOME PER-VERSIONS OF THE TRUE [KING JAMES] HOLY BIBLE TRANSLATE SAUL'S WORDS TO HIS SON JONATHAN AS:

"THOU (YOU) SON OF A [WHORE/HARLOT/B----]" !

WHEN COMPARING TRUMP TO OTHER "BLASPHEMING", CUSSING, CURSING &-OR PROFANITY-PALAVERING-U.S.-PRESIDENTS:

+++TRUMP IS TRUTHFULLY/TRULY/VERILY OF GOD+++ ! ! !

Dear John, does this mean that right now God is pleased with us as a nation? Does this mean that right now God sees us as a nation that loves Him with our entire being? That He sees a people whose chief desires and delights are in Him alone. Are you saying that right now as God looks upon the nation He is pleased because He sees a people that hates vanity and sin and desires nothing more than to obey Him according to His Word? Are you saying that if someone else get's elected all this will change? Please forgive me for not noticing that the New Jerusalem had descended upon the USA. But deed he need to hang out with Jeffery Epstein?

Yes, my dear sister in the Lord; I go way back. But there was a time when women were "generally" treated with utmost respect.

I agree with your thoughts about the changes. The women's liberation movement has basically said if you want to be liberated, then become more like men.

Hello, Adriel. They helped elect him for sure. Whether they use Romans 13 properly, I doubt it. But then not many do. Jim/Lincoln quoted it often when Obama was president. (at least the verses 1 and 2 parts) He no longer refers to it at all now that Trump is president.

So I want to say that there may be a time when you're calling God's judgment on somebody.

But here's where I'm probably going to end up: Jesus said, "Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you. Bless those who abuse you." So I don't think that today, without being scripture-writers like the psalmist, we should pray for people's damnation. We should bless people, pray for their conversion, or not pray for them if God makes it clear they're not going to be saved.

John UK.

Yes brother, I think both of us would say it is simply a dummying down of the gospel and other areas of scripture. For some reason all societies since the beginning have given the rich and famous a different pass. When they do something, like Trump does, they will bring up that it was God that chose them for office as if somehow that makes a difference.

Trump is an immoral buffoon the same as all our previous presidents. Total depravity does have meaning.

I believe in imprecatory prayers, but God never answers mine.

Come quickly Lord Jesus, come quickly!

If God uses evil people like Obama as president then he can also use Trump for His purpose.

Democrats support the daily murder of the unborn child and support the establishment of the abomination in society.
But only God can put them in power as per Romans 13.

In the Book of Psalms David regularly requests God to curse people.
This has been turned into an expletive which is wrong for "Christians" to use. However the uninitiated still sin in a fallen world.

Is it ok to use "God bless you" - in rhetoric?
Is this the opposite of the curse?
Can God curse sinners?

Yes, I'm thinking of what you see in the fourth paragraph of the introduction to the article. It never began that way, but it could start off as something godly, like an imprecatory prayer, then slowly turned into a euphemism, then taken up by the secular world who use the name of God without thinking, until eventually the people of God, or professing believers use such in their everyday life, and never consider it as blasphemy. But it is a horrible thing to hear.

The majority of the British public, including me until my conversion, did not know that one of the most popular comedians of the day, Ken Dodd, continually blasphemed God in his routine by saying every so often, "By Jove." No-one knew what he was talking about - it was just an expression, an euphemism.

Yes brother, it is extremely common to hear bad language in my country. Go out on the streets or in most establishments and you will hear it. The ones that don’t do it publicly are normally simply trying to not offend someone or to pretend they are moral. In times past, most didn’t curse around women, children or in front of people they knew it would offend.

So, what is surprising and sort of new here, is a president or anyone else of prominence doing it publicly. I think Trump does it simply to get a rise out of people, IOW, shock them? Much of his political base like him because he does the unexpected, like cursing.

I remember when Clinton was running and it became known that he had committed adultery. I told my wife it was impossible for someone to have done that and be elected president. I was naïve and stupid.

Our hypocrisy is none curse in a church, but wait until they leave.

James 1:26 - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.

https://tinyurl.com/yxczpl58 ('Breaking point': Swing voters weigh Trump rhetoric against economy)

It's not just evangelicals that have trouble with Trump's rhetoric. As the article pointed out, "....How many of Macomb's 630,000 registered voters follow Taylor's lead may well determine whether Trump holds this county, the state -- and possibly the presidency...."

Michigan is an important swing state ❗

Timothy, I don't remember Jimmy Carter ever appointing a homosexual to be ambassador to Germany? Mr. Trump did.

Do you mean the same Jimmy Carter who recently let a sodomite help lead his Sunday school class, Jiminy? The Jimmy Carter who is a “Christian” who supports gay marriage? No thanks. He’s a joke and, like all liberals including yourself, not a very funny one.
