Attempt to dictate gender on corporate boards facing lawsuit
California famously has promoted homosexuality and transgenderism in schools. It’s tried to ban counselors from helping young people get rid of same-sex attractions. It was the mover behind the effort in America to kill traditional marriage.

Now, it is being sued for mandating that the boards of directors of corporations fulfill a gender quota.

The government watchdog Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of three California taxpayers.

The objective is to prevent the state from implementing Senate Bill 826, which would require publicly held corporations with headquarters in the state to have at least one director “who self-identifies her gender as a woman.” ...

If California mandates something for the private sector, we may be confident the answer is no, it doesn't work. It works better in government, where productivity is less important, and has less purpose.

Forbes magazine had some interesting comments on gender selection for board directors, this is just a part of them ❗

The Cons

Those opposed to quota systems suggest that quotas may encourage the hiring of inexperienced women. Even if the new board members are highly qualified, women selected under quota programs may be perceived by their colleagues as less qualified because they received their position as a result of a quota. There’s also some evidence out of psychology that your own confidence may also suffer if you're hired as a result of preferential selection. Finally, backlash against women may result if individuals feel that their choices are being restricted in order to promote women.

And some just feel that the gender quota is offensive. “This legislation is, to me, insulting,” Lucy Dunn, president and CEO of the Orange County Business Council, said in a statement after the vote. “Rather than celebrate the competitive advantage women bring to positions of leadership in a company, it relegates them to placeholder status.”

Who Is Correct? Lessons From Abroad....
