'Unplanned' has great first weekend opening in Canada; directors thrilled amid opposition
Amid considerable pushback, the pro-life motion picture "Unplanned" had a successful first weekend in Canada, averaging approximately $7,000 per screen.
The film's directors say they are encouraged by the showing though the opposition has been significant and multi-faceted.
According to tribute.ca, for the weekend of July 12, the movie — which tells the story of former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life advocate Abby Johnson — came in at number 18 in the top 20 movies in North America....
The Hollywood Reporter, no doubt did a more accurate report on this movie. Because Canadians much more strongly support abortion than Americans do. In fact you could say the first part of the of HR article that I drew the quote from was more positive than might be expected. I believe the movie also even has an "R" rating. But, then HR did give the opinions of Canadians and their reviewers of the movie.
One might suspect that moviegoers from the United States were imported.
Unfortunately the old cliche still applies here ❗ "My mind is made up. Don’t confuse me with the facts."❗👎
"Hollywood Reporter wrote: The controversial anti-abortion drama Unplanned opened to a strong $353,510 from 49 theaters at the Canadian box office, despite negative publicity and protests...."
There is nothing controversial about the movie, other than to those who think murder is a choice.
