Buttigieg, 'husband' attend Jimmy Carter’s Sunday school class
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, joined the large crowd at former President Jimmy Carter’s Sunday school class in rural South Georgia.

At Carter’s invitation Buttigieg stood and read from the Bible as part of the lesson at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.

“You know him?” Carter had said earlier in reference to Buttigieg, drawing a laugh from the crowd.

Carter told the audience that two other Democratic presidential candidates, Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, had previously attended his classes. ...

Whoa, Jim! You can’t talk that way about the cat daddy of all Democrats! You mustn’t slam your liberal heroes just because a few of them like to add a little spring gobbler blasting to their usual rounds of baby killing and queer hugging. Be nice to the old goober farmer, and maybe he’ll let you read the scripture next Sunday.

Apparently Jimmy Carter has some other Bible passages to brush up on besides those on homosexuality👎

The Associated Press wrote:
In the statement, Congileo said: "President Carter said his main concern is that turkey season ends this week, and he has not reached his limit. He hopes the State of Georgia will allow him to rollover the unused limit to next year."...
excerpt from, "Former US President Jimmy Carter has surgery for broken hip"

Jimmy better scratch up on the Book of James for his Sunday school class❗

James 4:13-17
Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. ---ESV

Jimmy Carter’s church is actually a part of the Brethren movement. The Ignorant Brethren, to be precise.

Psalm 75:7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another."

Some parables illustrate that judgment is a process that eventually leads to a decision one way or another. The parables of the pounds (Luke 19:12-27), talents (Matthew 25:14-30), laborers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16) and 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) all help to illustrate that judgment is a process after which comes a reckoning.

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of JUDGMENT:"

Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:"

God's love will not prevail over God's judgment - or there would be no need for repentance. Indeed no need for the blood of Christ. (Heb 9:22)

Prov 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil."

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" (NB: Luke 13:3)

Herein lies the danger of over-emphasizing other attributes of the Holy God. God is love. He is also justice. His holiness demands justice. His patience with sin and its effects are not to be confused with slackness.

Carter’s baptist church is a member of the cooperative baptist fellowship and not affiliated with the SBC. Just look up the CBF website and it’ll explain where they stand and why everything is permissible because “ God is Love “.

"But is it not the same today amongst those who claim the strictest adherence to the truth of the gospel? Do not some seem to have nothing else to do but to create divisions?
Some seem to delight in nothing more than to live and dispute in the flames of these divisions. Divisions arise at the least
theological difference between Christians. Because of this Christianity has lost much of that awesome authority in the world by which it has often been the means of great restaint on the minds and consciences of men who have never tasted the real power of the gospel.
Great offence is given to the world also by the uselessness of Christians. Christians ought to be a blessing to everybody.
But they are not." (John Owen)

Fred, I'm afraid the SBC is a conference of aligned churches but exercise no power over any individual church other than to disassociate that wayward church from the them off the island if that's the right analogy. Why the SBC hasn't disassociated at this point is a good question.

Does the SBC impose no church discipline given the prominence of J. Carter? He's espoused false teachings going on 20 years from my readings and probably longer than that.

The episcopal church in America has provided an ample opportunity for all to see what the “ God is Love” movement is all about. No holiness, no humbleness, all you and very little God. Just as I used to be in the way back machine of the sixties and seventies - God be praised , he calls us out of depravity and into his grace

I think the below is Luther's quote that you are referring to.

If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are attacking at that moment, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all battlefields besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.

The above quote is attributed to Martin Luther.

Unashamed reprobates will worship with other unashamed reprobates.

But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions. But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
(1Ti 1:5-11)

I am sure all three have some contact with true believers in one way or another. Whoever they are must courageously warn them and tell the Truth in love. And we must pray for such men to step up and proclaim to them the Word with boldness.
