As many Americans who claim no religion as there are evangelicals and Catholics
For the first time "No Religion" has topped a survey of Americans' religious identity, according to a new analysis by a political scientist. The non-religious edged out Catholics and evangelicals in the long-running General Social Survey.
Ryan Burge, a political scientist at Eastern Illinois University and a Baptist pastor, found that 23.1% of Americans now claim no religion.
Catholics came in at 23.0%, and evangelicals were at 22.5%.
I would not believe this at all. Catholics are the largest 'denomination' in the US, so to say 'nones' are at that level is to say something significant. I would want to look at other research this 'professor' has done--after all, he is a political scientist, not a social researcher. Ask him how many Republicans are in New York State, or in Vermont; that's his business. And then it is CNN that is putting this out, not the John Birch Society organ, the New American, or the Baptist church organ, LIfeWay.
Of course it’s Trump’s fault, Jim. Everything is Trump’s fault—to all the ninnies who are too goofy to realize that most of the problems in this country are their own stinking fault.
