Witches use Facebook to promote 'public hex' on Kavanaugh
Self-proclaimed “witches” are promoting through Facebook a “public hex” on newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh this Saturday.
A Roman Catholic priest, meanwhile, has planned a special mass in response, explaining that when curses are aimed at people in a state of grace, “they have little or no effect.”
Abortion was a major issue in the fight over the nomination of Kavanaugh, who replaced Anthony Kennedy’s swing vote. While not having a judicial record on abortion, Kavanaugh, an observant Catholic, is regarded as a “textualist” who interprets the Constitution according to the text’s ordinary meaning.
Democrats fear he could be the fifth vote in a decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which then would return abortion regulation to the states....
