President Trump affirms right to life of Down syndrome babies in powerful statement
The Trump administration will continue to affirm the equal rights and dignity of children with Down syndrome, against “persistent myths and stigmas,” President Donald Trump declared Monday.

The president recognized Down Syndrome Awareness Month with a statement celebrating the “lives of the more than 250,000 Americans with Down syndrome,” pledging a deeper “understanding of Down syndrome and learning more about how we can ensure the beautiful people with Down syndrome are able to fully participate in society,” and honoring the “sanctity of their lives, at every stage.”

“All people are endowed by their Creator with dignity and the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” Trump said. “Despite some persistent myths and stigmas, even within the medical community, our Nation strongly embraces the undeniable truth that a Down syndrome diagnosis is an opportunity to embrace God’s gifts.” ...

good job. and good cutting gov funding for taking organs of unborn babies for "science" despite the fact that so many evangelicals think that fetal cell lines in shots are going to bring health to the millions of next generation (including the many now with autoimmune disease, autism - "Mystery" diseases as in "mystery" only to those who profit from not seeing)

So necessary, for so long , have we waited. Selective abortion has been an issue since testing for abnormalities has begun.
Since Reagan, there has been a nudge towards placing a prolife value into policy, but las unlikely as DJT is, his administration has made prolife as policy.

I’m an old history buff, but the leftists radicals going after Kavinaugh we’re kind of like the rebels running up Little Round Top, up the rebs went, yelling, screaming, shooting wildly, and Lawsrance Chamberlain and English professor, from Maine, gave the order, we’re out of ammo, fix bayonets and sweep the rebs off this hill. And they did. Without that maneuver, the Conferderates could have marched to Washington from Pennsylvania. Courage holds the day.

This verse comes to mind whenever my wife and I address the Lord's will for children born with a disability:

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but that the works of God should be showed on him. - John 9:1-3

The Lord Jesus healed this man, bringing light into his darkness, as an illustration of Him being the Light of the world as long as He is in the world (John 9:4-7). There aren't a lot of parents and kids who experience this kind of miraculous healing. But the Lord tends to work more subtly through them instead as Chris noted below. They are all a blessing, each an arrow in their dad's quiver, and each will meet their enemies in the gate with a different kind of impact than a "typical" child ever can. How a society cares for this kind of child says a lot about the society. I'm grateful for such a proclamation from our president.

I can't remember, ever, not even once, encountering a kid or an adult with Down Syndrome who wasn't happy, smiling, friendly, and helpful. I've never heard of one of these commiting a crime, involved in any sort of bullying or abuse, being a drug addict or drunkard, or on the wrong side of the law in any way. Yet...kill 'em...they'd be a waste of space, and too much work to raise, etc...a menace and burden to society. Personally, I wish there were more with their attitudes, outlook, and drive.

I have a friend that had a mentally challenged child. She lost two husbands but still has her daughter living with her and is a blessing to her in her loneliness. They take walks together and are there for each other. She has 3 other children, all married with children. Like Dale Evans once said about their Down child being an angel unaware which is the name of a book she wrote about her. So kudos to our wonderful President!!
