Amen, Wayfarer. Self-absorbed parents are a major factor. Another is the principle forwarded by almost every state's department of social services that spanking equates to child abuse. We don't use corporal punishment as our child didn't need it. But we know a Christian family who did and lost their kids for a while.
Don, my high school went through a "board of education" every several months. The shop teacher was always making a new one.
The lack of parenting has brought the downfall of public education and most public services that our tax dollars support. If the people who have made a child , care nothing about rearing the child , then why think public schools, public health care or counseling or jail will cure anything. Parents say â noâ more often, stay married or better yet, marry well. Then if the child learns to respect the parents, ( a mom and Dad) then the teacher can teach and the child will have no need for free health care, a counselor or jail.
Child "rearing" takes on a whole new meaning as one school really gets to the "bottom" of disciplinary problems. Let's just hope the kids who get paddlings won't be the "butt" of other students' jokes. That could send them into an emotional "tail" spin.
