Pot Churches Proliferate
Despite its mainstream Christian trappings, the Coachella Valley Church describes itself as a Rastafarian church, something that’s tough to define. Rastafari is a political and religious movement that originated in Jamaica. Combining elements of Christianity, pan-Africanism and mysticism, the movement has no central authority. Adherents use marijuana in their rituals.

The church’s leaders say they believe that religious freedom laws give them the right to offer marijuana to visitors without a doctor’s recommendation — and without having to abide by any other regulations. Some courts and local authorities beg to differ. ...

“How alcohol damages,” also
Reuters,Jan. 3, 2018
“Drinking alcohol produces a harmful chemical in the body which can lead to permanent genetic damage in the DNA of stem cells, increasing the risk of cancer developing, according to research published on Wednesday. Working with mice in a laboratory, British scientists used chromosome analysis and DNA sequencing to examine the genetic damage caused by acetaldehyde, a harmful chemical produced when the body processes alcohol. Their findings offered more detail about how alcohol increases the risk of developing seven types of cancer, including common forms such as breast and bowel cancer. It also showed how the body seeks to defend against the damage alcohol can do. ... The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies alcohol as a Group 1 carcinogen, citing ‘convincing evidence’ it causes cancer in humans. A study published in 2011 found that alcohol is responsible for around 4 percent of all cancer in Britain--equating to around 12,800 cases a year.” See Pr 23:29-32 - “Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine;.."

A lot of "sipping saints" set aside sobriety.

Always wishing to maintain a positive outlook on the Christian life, there is in Jesus Christ an endless source of life, joy, peace, love, and all the other great fruits of the Spirit. To be sure, believing, truly believing, results in "joy unspeakable and full of glory".

Truly believing results in death and more death - to SELF.

And what happens then? We live in the sunlight of God's love. We take the light yoke of Jesus Christ and do not find anything burdensome.

It bears repeating, but Christianity turns everything upside down. To live, you die. To be strong, you must be made weak. To be rich, you must be poor.

If anyone does not understand these things, please read the Bible and ask the Lord in prayer to reveal it to you. For there is much shallow Christianity in the world today which is merely nominal and not the true biblical blueprint for the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's a royal priesthood for the members of the royal family, who live no longer for themselves but for him who died for them and rose again. This is the only way to glorify God, which is the main purpose of our conversion.

Yeah Neil you're right. But unfortunately I think we're headed in that direction. We're already there in the unreality of cyberspace, how long before it becomes actual?

Looks like Click Bait article to me. This is tame stuff compared to the ancient form of religious irrationality, Bacchanalia.

Wow! Talk about the seductive sorceress! My goodness! This weed thing spreading throughout the country, along with transgenderism homosexuality, pedophilia, adultery, etc, etc cannot go on much longer. The violent God hating spirit behind it all will eventually come out against Biblical Christians; then the en of it in judgment won't be far off. Pray. Pray, pray! Lord help us to keep ourselves unstained by this world!

Barbara Feder Ostrov wrote:
“I’m not going to say they’re not churches, but to the extent that they’re distributing marijuana, they’re an illegal dispensary, in my view,” said San Jose City Attorney Rick Doyle. Doyle has requested a permanent legal injunction to stop the Coachella Valley Church from providing marijuana, and a court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 22. He recently got a court order to shut down operations of a similar church, the Oklevueha Native American Church of South Bay, he said.

Excellent article, which you should read. Just another example of churches that reflect their society more than they do Christianity. 👎
