A Christian cake baker had a good day in court

After the arguments in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the sidewalk in front of the Supreme Court on Tuesday was teeming with interested parties from both sides of the case. On one side of the court steps stood Christian cake baker Jack Phillips and Christian florist Barronelle Stutzman, whose business Arlene’s Flowers has a case pending at the Supreme Court similar to Phillips’ case. On the other side of the steps stood Charlie Craig and David Mullins, the gay couple that brought the lawsuit against Phillips’ Masterpiece Cakeshop in 2012, for his refusal to create a custom wedding cake for them based on his Christian beliefs about marriage.

Craig and Mullins talked about the “pain and humiliation” of being denied a cake, while Phillips talked about the weight of the five-year court battle on his family. Since he lost in Colorado state courts, he has had to stop selling ...

While George Will was sympathetic to the baker he did point this out:
George Will wrote:
Six decades ago, the civil rights movement gained momentum through heroic acts of civil disobedience by African-Americans whose sit-ins at lunch counters, and other challenges to segregation in commerce, produced the "public accommodations" section of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It established the principle that those who open their doors for business must serve all who enter. That principle would become quite porous were it suspended whenever someone claimed his or her conduct was speech expressing an idea, and therefore created a constitutional exemption from a valid and neutral law of general applicability.

This was published last month before the decision was made by the Supreme Court.

Sorry, John, but I don't know but a bit from the news today--that the Prime Minister was pleased with the move.
I would be more interested in what the Jewish reaction here in the US is, realizing of course, the truth of that old joke, put 3 Jews in a room, ask them a question, and you will get 4 answers after a while.
Many Jews are so full of hatred towards President Trump that they would take the opposite side just to spite him.
There is a phenomenon here of 'self-hating Jews' that I have heard about from Jewish talk show hosts Michael Savage and Mark Levin, (and read about in a book by an Israeli comic), but I don't understand it.
I have read that a third of Jews in the US do not believe in God, so that might be the root of the problem. How can you follow their traditions and not believe in God? Yet they do it. I guess it's the same as seeing many churches filled for candlelight services on Dec. 24. People are there because it's a tradition to go before they open their presents or have a big family dinner.

Am I the only reader here who thinks there sure are a lot of news stories about sodomites, when their percentage of the population is about 3 to 4?
I would like to see more stories posted about Jewish people in the US, since I think they make up a greater population, and many evangelicals feel a great need to share the gospel with them.
I could say we should see more stories about the modern country of Israel, but there are other ministries dedicated just to that. Besides, American Jews are not totally in support of the modern country of Israel.
No, you are not the only reader, Edward, who is getting a bit fed up with sodomite news stories.

Tell you what, have you any discernment on what is going to happen in Zion, now that the prez had made his declaration concerning moving the US embassy there?

I was just listening to some of the details on this case during the court proceedings. One of the things his attorney brought before the court was a case where a Christian asked a sodomite owned bakery to make a custom cake with a picture of a Bible on it, and saying that marriage is between a man and a woman, or something to the same effect. Well, the sodomite owner flat out refused, and in a not so nice way. The Christian took the owner to court, and what did the court decide? Who won, you ask? Well, the sodomite, of course. The court simply said that the sodomite, finding it offensive and hateful, was under no obligation to fulfill that specific order.
What an interesting time to be alive in, oh, and maddening. The hipocrisy is beyond belief.
I just don't get it. If a court states that a sodomite can refuse services to anybody then why would a court state that a Christian business owner can't refuse service to anybody? Why are liberals so hypocritical? I don't get it.

Right John, that, and easy money. The courts have sided with them in these discrimination cases, so they've since made a career out of hunting down the Christian owned/based businesses; bakers, photographers, etc, are sure to make it known that they're sodomites getting married, etc., and then litigate whenever they find anyone who refuses service...easy money.
Funny thing is that there have been several cases of Muslim owned businesses who have even posted no service signs on their storefronts, and how many of these have we heard about or have been sued? None that I'm aware of. Hmmm.
I wonder how many sodomite owned businesses would refuse service to Christians for things they, themselves disagree with?

Yes Christopher, easy money, it's all too easy, now that the courts have gotten a biased view. God sees it all, he hears imprecatory prayers from the Presbies, but the church seems powerless to do anything, and God does not answer. Maybe the church really is under judgment.

It seems to me the insistence by homosexuals that every person on the planet agree that their lifestyle is normal shows their insecurity, meaning deep down inside, they know what they're doing is wrong, too.

Kennedy was skeptical and said a baker could sell to gay people as Phillips has done, but not do gay weddings. “Your identity thing is too facile,” he said.

Likely slyly addressing Kennedy who wrote the gay marriage decision, Roberts noted that Obergefell v. Hodges "went out of its way to talk about the decent and honorable people who may have opposing views,” and that therefore it was unfair to compare them to racists. With Kennedy’s vote, the conservative justices might have a majority in this case. They could come to a very creative and narrow majority many different ways

What a Savior He is, worthy to be lifted up, as no King but Christ alone amen!

1 PT 3:11-16 Let him eschew evil & do good; let him seek peace & pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” & who is he that will harm you if ye be followers of that which is good? But if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye. “& ben't afraid of their terror; neither be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, & be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness & fear. Have a good conscience, that, whereas they speak evil of you as of evildoers, they who falsely accuse may be ashamed by your good manner of life in Christ.
