Arlene Foster: I’m not changing my mind on marriage or abortion

DUP leader Arlene Foster is rejecting pressure to introduce same-sex marriage and abortion in Northern Ireland, saying her support for traditional marriage and the unborn is resolute.

Speaking on Monday, Mrs Foster expressed sadness that opponents of redefining marriage are branded ‘homophobic’ and ‘haters’.

And following a separate meeting with pro-life supporters, she said the party would do everything in its power to uphold Northern Ireland’s current law on abortion.

Diane, I highly respect your view. I think a government and a political party are in bad shape when the best man for the job is a woman.

This short article was written by a woman and is from a respected source. http://tinyurl.com/y78s44vd ("What does the Bible say about women leaders in government? Should a woman be President?") I still don't approve of women leaders but I wish the leader of the DUP well, since she seems to be the one to be doing the job.

"Christ not only valued women very highly, but also demonstrated a clear role distinction between men and women. Nowhere is this issue seen more clearly than in Jesus’ selection of only men for the role of apostle. Many Biblical feminists question the
significance of this obvious role distinction, or explain it as cultural or as temporary. Siddons’s brief comment is that dangers in travel and the “male-dominated” social structure of the time were reasons for the apostles’ being only men.
But Jesus was not averse to breaking social customs when He felt it necessary. He
criticized Pharisees to their face in public (Matt 23:13-36), healed on the sabbath
(Mk 1:21-27; Lk 13:14; John 5:8-10), and cleansed the temple (John 2:14-17;
Matt 21:12-13). Against custom, Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman (John 4:7-9),
ate with tax collectors and sinners (Matt 9:11), and even ate with unwashed hands
(Mark 7:1-23)! The point is that when moral issues were at stake, Jesus did not bend to cultural pressure. No, it was not social custom or cultural pressure that caused Jesus to appoint an all-male group of apostles. Had He so desired, He could easily have appointed six men and their wives as apostles, (1 Cor 9:5)." (But HE did not) (J A Borland)

I would guess because politics is such a dirty career choice. If you are not ruthless to your opponent it's kind of hard to be noticed. And also it's easy to be slandered, and have your name and family made out to look like horrible people. Plus it's a very public affair, just check out any comments section, and if you are even bit conservative, the liberals will curse you to no end, and intimidate you on compromising on your beliefs.

I'm not a believer in women being in politics, but I do admire this woman's resolve and pray she will not back down.
