Texas Enacts ‘Anti-Sharia’ Law

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill 45, more commonly known as “American Laws for American Courts,” or ALAC. It prohibits the use of any foreign law in the state’s courts, specifically in family cases that involve marriage or parent-child relationship matters.

One of the bill’s co-authors Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) thanked the governor, who signed HB 45 on Wednesday. Leach called the law “vitally important bill to further safeguard and protect our Constitutional rights!” In the last legislative session, Leach authored the comparable yet unsuccessful ALAC measure, House Bill 562. ...

Haman, I think we aught to be careful when we lump all Muslims into one mold, I think that's a misrepresentation of Muslims, not all Muslims believe the same thing, a clear example would be the Sunni Muslims and Shitte Muslims, both are Muslims, however they believe different things when it comes to certain matters in Islam.

I'm sure there are Muslims that are glad of this law, because they don't agree with the Sharia law, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some Muslims went to Texas to live there after this law was enacted.

I saw a report of a Muslim lady who actually protested against the Sharia law, she's still a Muslim (to my knowledge) yet hates the law. So we aught be careful not to put all Muslims into one mold.

Did you hear that sound? I think it was the sound of moving vans of all the Muslim doctors and techies working in Houston, Dallas, Austin, etc. They will pack it up and leave Texas, saying it is too discriminatory, if in fact they do not sue someone over this.
Let's see what happens next--look for 'unintended consequences'

didn't some in the sbc somehow fund a mosque project in New Jersey?

didn't that same city vote to stop the mosque and they were forcing them to go against thier own vote?

it seems then, they will be really unhappy with this decision to stop sharia in texas, after all, didn't they put on the floor to stop the "alt right"?

and they have been saying the "alt right"are those who support trumps agenda?...

so therefore, we should have freedom of religion and that means letting a political-religious entity called sharia take over wherever it wants?

maybe they will have to call all those texas Christians "mysoginists" or "%$#$$# white males"... to keep them in their place!

if foreigners want to come in and declare sharia law in your city and you don't like it, maybe you are an "alt righty xenophobic mysnoginist"!

Sharia defined in Is59:
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Jn14:6- " the Truth" will judge us.

Michael Helfand, an associate professor at Pepperdine University School of Law, told HuffPost Live’s Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani on Monday the threat of sharia law is negligible. In fact, the steps taken to ban sharia are more worrisome, he said.

“The real worry is actually when we take this nonexistent threat seriously [and] start incorporating [it] into the legislation of various states,” he said. “We actually start potentially harming or actually undermining or making people more vulnerable.”

According to Islamic law specialist Abed Awad, bans on sharia law are actually unconstitutional....

“This has been the law of the land for the past 100 years. So these attacks that sharia has to be outlawed and that sharia cannot be part of the legal system, actually (violate) American law,” he said.

Thus, American law has the legal tools to consider sharia as long as it does not violate the U.S. constitution, Awad added.

Awad said that the impetus to forbid sharia is “nothing but political.”

Unfortunately, that law does not extend to the federal court system. Sharia is clearly a problem, but take a look at any recent Supreme Court decision and you'll find foreign law an important input into our judicial system that is supposed to be about the US Constitution and the body of law that has been passed into law by the legislative and executive branches of government. Isaiah 59 still pertains. Truth is dead in the streets and justice has fled from the United States of America.
