Eight Alabama counties still refuse to issue marriage licenses despite gay marriage ruling
Probate judges in at least eight Alabama counties continued to refuse to issue any marriage licenses as of Tuesday, nearly 16 months after the U.S. Supreme Court found that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right.

More than a dozen Alabama probate judges stopped issuing marriage licenses to both gay and straight couples at various points after a federal judge struck down Alabama's gay marriage ban on Jan. 23, 2015, and in the wake of the June 26, 2015, Supreme Court ruling.

On Tuesday, AL.com spoke with representatives of 14 of 15 county probate courts that gay marriage advocates identified as having indicated in recent months that they would not grant marriage licenses. Calls seeking comment from Geneva County Probate Judge Greg Hamic's office were not immediately returned. ...

What a privilege Penny to not only be a guest, but to be provided with a wedding garment, perfect in every way, the very best. I never spend much on clothes, so that fitted suit is a great joy and cause of celebration, for it is none other than the imputed perfect righteousness of God Himself, given through faith, and without which none shall enter the kingdom of heaven. What a remarkable gift, given to unworthy sinners like me. I will forever glorify God for His great grace.

He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth:

Yep, that sounds good to me. I also am a rebel in that sense.

that's right John UK! and thank God for interceders!
Thanks Penny, it is taking me a while, but I now better understand the system you have in America. Very grateful to you for taking the time to explain it.

A ministry of intercession is apparently a very lonely and heartfelt life. This is for those God has called to weep before Him and play a part in history. Not for the faint-hearted, nor for those who wish to have two vacations a year and who watch a lot of TV.

We can be thankful that the Lord Jesus intercedes for all His people, from His throne in Heaven. Praise the Lord that all His prayers are answered! In this is much assurance and security, because of His great love and eternal redemption for all His. The devil can snarl all he likes, he is a beaten foe, and has lost his captives. Ha! Thanks to Penny and Diane.

In the UK we have a centralised government in Westminster, and their laws are mandatory for most things.

But if I got it right, you are saying that Alabama judges are not beholden to your centralised guv, and can make and enforce their own laws.

If that is right, then they are not being rebels against the way America is constituted, rather they are being rebels against peer pressure, political correctness, in other words they are rebelling against ungodliness.

Yep, that sounds good to me. I also am a rebel in that sense.

Brother John UK, many evangelicals that criticize the elections probably couldn't answer the question.

but here it is.

we have enumerated powers.

so marriage licenses are given out in state and judges elected locally so the federal gov has no legal precedent to intervene.

the state of Alabama is sovereign here.

on top of this, there was a ballot initiative in the state of Alabama and the people of the state voted to protect traditional marriage.

so state representatives are bound to follow state law and that would be to protect traditional marriage.

the feds are creating rules out of thin air and then supreme court (which is federal) rules in their favor, circumventing the regular process for making law. so they make up this new thing out of thin air and expect the states to conform illegally through political pressure.

the cw was fought over states rights and enumerated powers, and the feds/international bankers won. they have claimed territory that is not enumerated.... roe v wade, same thing, if overturned, goes back to state cr

"Rebel judges", John from U.K.? These judges are not the ones who are rebels. Those black robed tyrants making immoral laws from D.C. are the true rebels.
