"It is a great opportunity to attract visitors from all over the world, particularly America. It is the single greatest piece of literature in the English language... refusal by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to commemorate this anniversary is a failure to fully discharge its own remit... I believe it lets the nation down."
The year 2011 marks the anniversary of the book that coined such phrases as "the writing on the wall", "a lamb to the slaughter" and "the blind leading the blind"....
