JANGWANI BEACH, Tanzania (AFP) - Bishop Katharine Jeffery Schori, whose election as the first woman head of an Anglican church has ignited much acrimony, was elevated to represent the Americas region to the church's executive body.
Schori, 53, was elected by ecclesiastics from North America, Central America and the Carribbean to the Standing Committee of the Primates at the ongoing synod in the Tanzanian commercial capital of Dar es Salaam.
