Churches denounce slavery during "Amazing Grace Sunday" services
Parishioners at Frontline Church in Ann Arbor joined with thousands of other churchgoers today in an effort to end slavery worldwide.
The nearly 100 parishioners sang "Amazing Grace" as part of "Amazing Grace Sunday," an interfaith effort that coincides with the release this Friday of the movie of the same name. The movie, "Amazing Grace," is about the life of William Wilberforce, a member of Parliament who worked to end the slave trade in the British Empire.
"We felt like it was an opportunity to make a difference," said Pastor Kirk Schneeman. "Hopefully it will have some impact in educating people and have an impact on government."...
