Topics to be addressed include:
1:'The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill' - The Bill enables the creation of animal-human embryos and so-called 'saviour siblings', and removes the 'need for a father requirement in IVF treatment. It can also be used to amend the abortion law. The speakers will show how the Bill attacks the sanctity of life and the institution of marriage.
2: 'Religious Liberty' - there have been numerous cases where religious liberty has been under threat. The speakers will talk about the work of The Christian Institute in this area including their action against the internet giant Google, which has refused to accept an advert from the Institute. The latest news will also be brought on the 'incitement to homophobic hatred' offence in Parliament.
3: 'Charities Law' - The Charities act 2006 removes the presumption that religious groups are for the 'public benefit' and are therefore charitable. The Charity Commission is currently consulting on how it will assess religious groups in future. Speakers from the Christian Instutue will look at the implications and bring us up to date on this issue.
