John UK Thank you for your comment. I lived in England as a teenager and my older neighbors were the ones who introduced me to God. How thankful I am that they planted those seeds in my life. I think of them sometimes. They've surely passed on. And now the dying of those ancient churches and the old followers. I have always been attracted to churches. Especially while travelling, it's so nice to be able to sit and have a moment with God. But, yes, considering the state of the church in Great Britian, I was doubtful I would hear God's voice or feel His presence. Then, while enjoying myself as a tourist...there He came. Always during a reading of scripture. All I can say in response to the state of the church or the dwindling of Christians... Come Lord Jesus. Please.
Once, in Westminister Abbey of all places. I had an powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit. I don't know that I could even explain it with words. This Spring I was in York Cathedral and had a sweet encounter with my Father that led me to beg, "More of You! please. more." I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Holy Spirit is still at work in England, in the old, stone & cold churches of the past- where He can still draw people into relationship with Yahweh. For those that reject Him...what blessing and joy they're missing. My prayer for the British is that they too would cry for more. More blessing, more joy, more tears...
Chris G P I've always wondered when this was going to happen. Interesting that it would happen in UK first. Also, can the fact that Christian parents (and there probably aren't many currently) are not involved be a good thing? The government can't focus on it being a Christian "bigot" problem and make that excuse. When my kids were in school I just wanted them to learn math, English, science, history... Every moment focused on this type of stuff is a moment less for real learning.
It's getting harder and harder to dodge the companies that donate to Planned Parenthood. And make-up?... Who do they think is going to buy this stuff in the future? Future customers are being aborted left & right.
It's mind numbing... to the point of incomprehension. Do they not realize that babies are created for His glory? Do they wake up each morning delighting in another day of death to the tiny wonders of God? I just don't understand.
Regardless of whether one believes RCC is bogus or not, the people attacking the churches in France see it as an attack on Christianity. Unlike the U.S., you don't drive down the street and see multiple churches of different denominations. It's not like the attackers can choose churches, chuch congregations or clergy that are known as the "true" faith.
I'm sure the questions could be addressed with many sound arguments/answers but when I look at the whole situation, isn't it just the purposeful destruction of a created being who reflects God's love? Babies (or at any age) might be filled with the Spirit of God so they must be destroyed. I guess I can't put it into words very well.
A man with eyes who cannot see, with ears who cannot hear... Simply another day to perfect the altar of death with the lives of the innocent ones, those whose souls were made for eternity by a mighty God but never get to see the sun.
After seeing every possible physical act on TV reality and medical programs, why have we never seen abortions being performed? Would it lead to rabid pro-aborts having a change of heart or further callousness?
Christopher I agree. It's like a hijacking of American government. It's also disheartening. Sometimes I wonder if liberals present the really crazy stuff just to wear us down... later on when Americans get used to these potentially absurd policies they will accept as mainstream thought.
