Reading fiction won't taint your already sinful hide fellas. After all look at how much tabloid and political fiction you read. Now the fiction of heresy such as Popish dogma and it's cousin Arminian free will, well thats another thing all together.

Fiction is a made up/imaginary tale with a story within to tell.
If the actual words of a parable are made up (allegorical), and there is a story behind these words, - isn't there a commonality here???
