The theoretical risk of a megatsunami hitting the eastern seaboard is well known and has been around for decades.
I don't give much credence to your borrowed "prophecies". Have you come across this "tongue" speaking?
Neil wrote: Evidently the Hoover Co. cleaned up in the market for home vacuum cleaners in Britain. This is why it has become a common noun there, like "Kleenex" in America.
This is true. Of course, from the 90's onwards this common noun brand identity suffered somewhat as people began to spit at the same time as say "hoover".
Another stroke of marketing genius to rank with New Coke:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_free_flights_promotion "After the fiasco had cost the company almost ÂŁ50 million, the British division of Hoover was sold to the Italian manufacturer Candy."
Given the onslaught of the ravages of unrestrained sin upon Britain you would think Brown would at least hold out for significant Papal indulgences for the nation as the price for picking up the tab.
"As soon as the coin in the coffer rings, The soul from purgatory springs".
May God raise up a Martin Luther for this generation. And a Frederick the Wise too wouldn't go amiss.

Neil wrote: Raw milk dairies need almost rabbinical care over bovine hygiene.
Continuing the aside, I like how you put that it sums up the hygiene need very well.
I appreciate that there are those who have medical need for / benefit from unpasteurized dairy products. However, the risks from bovine tuberculosis and E.coli etc are in danger of drastically outweighing the benefits.
I've always struggled with the the whole Narnia set and how they were supposed to be Christian analogies.
But is not the gospel clearly presented in other works such as Pilgrim's Progress or The Travels of True Godliness?
Is the genre completely wrong, or should we be more discriminating, remembering Bunyan's own need for an apologetic defence of his work?
Obviously scripture alone is scripture.
btw Neil - as an aside you might be interested in this news story:- Case against raw milk sours http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2010/01/21/12564206.html
Reuters think that a pope flagellating himself is news?
Reuters would appear to know as much about popes as they do about what constitutes Christianity.
One of the saddest things about the last pope was that he actually seemed to believe the evil theological garbage of Rome, unlike so many of his more mercenary predecessors. But then, that's probably also why so many "evangelicals" thought he was a "Christian".
Lutz Gordens/Gorgens - as per what WND wrote: Lutz Gordens, German consul general for the southeast U.S., has defended his nation's public education requirements.
"For reasons deeply rooted in history and our belief that only schools properly can ensure the desired level of excellent education, we (Germany) go a little bit beyond that path which other countries have chosen," Gorgens said.
Sanderson wrote: The real essence of slavery is in the deliberate surrender of individual rights and responsibilities to others.
Interesting anachronistic non-reasoning.
So you believe slavery, which has been with us for millenia, is the result of self-surrender caused by the mindset engendered by the modern welfare state.
On second thoughts, nope, you must be right. The Bible proves it - no wonder that slave-boy Joseph ended up directing an Egyptian government food program!
Oh come on, you'd have to be Amish or something to effectively exempt oneself from mandatory auto insurance.
The choice not to drive is not really a choice for most people over the course of a lifetime in our modern societies. And if you relied on taxis, friends, bus, rail for transportation you would simply be relying on someone else's mandatory insurance which you would still be paying for in some way or other.
You and others are playing semantics. The analogy with other forms of mandatory insurance remains valid.
Neil,
So the aspect of mandatory health insurance that is wicked and unjust 'per se' is that it is an unlawful abuse of authority by the Feds? If that is the reason, yes I follow that. If it was a mandatory Arizona state scheme, you might not like it as intrusive and not your preferred public policy but it would not be 'per se' wicked and unjust? Not trying to be provocative (well not today anyway ) just trying to ensure I understand your position as I respect and appreciate what you have to say on these forums.
But Neil, I am being informed in this forum that:-
"Mandatory insurance shouldn't exist in America." - would that not cover State, Federal and Municipal government?
"wicked and unjust laws" - if a law is "unjust" is it not unjust at any level of government?
"wicked and unjust lawmakers" - is it not just as evil for State lawmakers to mandate car insurance?
btw - exemptions to laws are quite commonplace and probably have quite an extensive history for time immemorial. I'm tempted to muse to myself 'Why should we discriminate against politically powerful groups in this area?' More seriously, I do of course share the biblical concern over partiality re: "when the president does it, that means it's not illegal" "I won't hear a word said against my pastor"
Neil - I thought your original comment ending was the most succinct, clearest and technically correct.
Neil wrote: BTW, I would say buying American in effect supports fascism, which is what our nation has unconsciously embraced - public control of private capital.
the separatists wrote: Here is the real shocker! type "pictures of Muhammad" in the Google search bar and see what you get. Now type “picture of Jesus Christ" and see what you get. You get pictures for Muhammad but nothing for Jesus Christ. Google sensors Christianity and not Muslims.
Not as shocking as separatists lamenting not being able to see pictures of Jesus.
"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?"
Do you think this was done with a painting? or by preaching?
