How interesting that MSN is the source. I thought it was going to be WND.
Yes, anyone who thinks of mass transit--esp. trains--has got to think that NYC type living is not the way to go.
And then, what about elevators? How can you keep a safe, 6-foot distance from people in an elevator that is no more than 6 feet by 6 feet?
But I think there are more people already infected with this Wuhan lab flu (that's from the Washington Post article) but never had serious symptoms. A friend told me he had a bad cough last Dec. that kept him from attending church for weeks.
It was a cough and sore throat that would not go away.

When dealing with large numbers, it is always good to get perspective. Number One Killer in the US is heart disease with over 670,000 and then stroke is 140,000. We could talk about alcohol-related deaths, and that would be many more.
Flu deaths have been very high; President Trump used a 50,000 number a week or so ago at a news conference, which is the high end of the CDC page I had copied last month, which showed Oct 1, 2019 to FEb 29,2020 was minimum of 20,000 and max of 50,000. Cases were in the millions, hospitalizations over 320,000. And did anyone shut down the NBA, the NFL, or concerts, or NASCAR?
Maybe now every Oct 1 they should shut them all down. Think of all the lives we could save.
Oh, by the way, they do have a flu vaccine, but many won't get it because it may cause autism, or is made from aborted baby parts, right? Or they could be Seventh Day Adventists or Jehovah's Witnesses.

Looks like the DOJ is replacing all the Obama Deep State staffers, or else this would not happen.

It isn't fair to say 'lost their jobs' when the reality is 'the mighty hand of Govt shut down their businesses'
It's not the economy, it's the Govt forcing shutdown (due to this Wuhan virus) that is the problem

Doesn't this remind you of Robert Shuller's idea of having 'drive-in church'? He was ahead of his time. That was in LA where people have a love affair with their cars.
I'm convinced it's why CA has less of these Wuhan flu cases than similar-sized population states like NY.
Of all the TV reports on NYC, I don't see any showing the crowded subways. And elevators--how do people get home without using one and being within 2 feet of another person?
If I had mapping tech, I would draw a map of all the large public transit systems, with trains being marked in bright red, and then put the virus cases on top of that. You would see a distinct correlation between them.
Check out Florida's Dept of Health map and you can see this clearly--the 2 counties south of Lake Okeechobbee--where sugar is the main crop, and little else--has maybe ten cases total, while Palm Beach County, just east, has many more and actually leads all counties with deaths.
Other Florida counties in the Panhandle also have few cases.

I think the distancing rule will work in several churches, where attendance is so low that people can be assigned seats already marked to be 6 feet apart.
I read that 85 percent of all US churches have attendance of less than 100.

1. consider source: WND=World Nut Daily.
2. have you heard this on your local news? I won't ask national networks since they would never touch any story with God in it. I was going to ask if your local newspaper has a weekly religion page listing church services, but now that they have been moved online, that is no longer true. But still, if they did, have they run any editorials or columns about this story?
3. what do people mean by God? the guy sitting on a big throne with long white hair and beard, throwing thunderbolts down at us?
4. Compare the recent past--2009 Swine Flu or H1N1 virus. 60 million Americans affected, 12,000 died, yet did schools close?
5. Consider the 'regular' flu season for which we are given vaccines in Aug/Sept to prep for it. CDC says over 20,000 people died from Oct 1, 2019 to Feb 29, 2020. That's 4,000 people per month. Any news on it? To be fair, all NHL, NBA, SEC, NFL games should be cancelled from Oct 1 onwards to prevent this 'tragic loss of life.'
Everyone should be required to wear face masks from October 1 through March 31.

I was wondering how many more people will be getting divorces due to this confinement. But a good thing is that traffic accidents and deaths may go down, with people staying off the streets, esp. at night during curfews. And with less traffic, less air pollution, right?

When this Wuhan flu crisis is over, and churches open to regular services, etc, I wonder if the result will be full churches for a few weeks as people make a big collective effort like they did after 9/11.
Then a month or two later, you will go back to the same old same old attendance patterns. I even wonder if people today will look around and seriously analyze their church lives and say, hey, I only say hello to 3 or 4 couples who in my area of the church, and then I go home. What is the difference from today when I can call them every day? Do I really need to get up early, dress up, go to this building? I could stay home, work in my garden, go fishing, golfing, shopping, and have time for other things like visiting sick people in the hospital or elderly in the ALFs.

Read "I, Pencil' essay by Lawrence Reed and you will see that a simple pencil cannot be made without resources from around the world.
Hold up your cellphone and see how many rare earth elements from China are used in it. Ladies, your diamond ring may have an African source. Gold market--anyone buying gold these days with the markets down? That could come from many different countries.
Now, I did hear that the reason Italy leads the EU with this virus is that they had many Chinese migrant workers in their factories (mostly N. Italy), who went home Jan 25 for Chinese New Year, ate a lot of bats, rats, and other strange creeping crawling things (all prohibited by the Bible), got the virus, then returned to work in Italy, thus spreading it to a population with 22.6 percent elderly, the highest in the EU.

It's good to see that the homeschooling people are offering the alternative. I wonder, how will people find out about it? Does anyone reading this know of children home from govt schools who have adopted this? I thought kids are just continuing with their classes online, and schools even give out computers for them to follow along. I wonder if those computers even allow for something else to be used instead. Or a tracking software that would alert the teacher that Jane or Johnny is not following along, kinda like an attendance roll.
Otherwise, how do they know any kids are following the lessons?
But I do think online is better for kids today than the classroom, and we may see an increase in test scores from this period.

If people read the health reports on restaurant inspections, they would never go out.
One good thing of his current Chinese-virus crisis is that people will be able to save money from not eating out, and not going shopping as entertainment. Dave Ramsey always tells people in debt, 'you should not see the inside of a restaurant unless you work there'
Another good thing is with schools moving online...parents will see that their kids may even do better without the distractions from other kids, especially the disruptive ones that the govt schools no longer want to discipline.
Remember the Obama program to end the circuit from school to jail? Trayvon Martin was suspended from his Miami-area school because he was caught with burglary tools and jewelry that had been reported stolen from a house near his high school. His school security officer, in order to keep the school record clean, did not want to report him to the police, which would have meant some time in the slammer.

IT would be interesting if SA would do a poll of its broadcasters to see how many are going to be recommending their members stay home this weekend instead of attending a live service.
That would depend on every church member having some source of wi-fi, and those who depend on public libraries might find it hard on a Sunday morning to find them open, and if they can still get the wi-fi service from outside, it might be a bit cold out, and expose them to getting a cold, thus weakening their immune system and making them more susceptible to getting a virus from China.

Thanks, "MIke" for the heart disease number. I think that is the lead cause of death in the US. It would be helpful to see a pie-chart that shows how big that is overall, in comparison to the flu, vehicles, suicides, alcohol, etc. Then we would say, less than 50 died of this new virus in the US? How many died from slipping in their bath tubs? Accidents with lawn mowers?

I have heard that kids are not affected by this virus, so the govt schools have remained open. Also, they are providing free meals for many kids, and closing them would end this. And they provide a 'baby-sitting service' for parents who work, and closing them would put the kids at home with no supervision, or parents would have to stay home to take care of them, and who would go to work?

Closing the parks was a tough decision, given this big fan base. You might even call these people a cult, due to their deep devotion to everything Disney.
You know, a lot of times, the parents are the ones who are really pushing it, not the kids. I think some are reliving their 2nd childhoods. And there is that verse in the Bible that says, 'unless you become as little children, you cannot enter the kingdom of God' (compare to Paul's verse about 'leaving the spiritual milk behind and growing up to spiritual solid food')

On the news this morning I heard of a survey that showed Democrats thought they were going to get the virus and Republicans not.
I still think a side effect of all this hoopla is that less people will be getting the 'regular' flu and dying from it. I would even bet that the CDC in Atlanta would detect a drop in cases.

Have you wondered like me...what are the deaths from 'ordinary' flu in the US this season?
A quick websearch led me to a page from the CDC in Atlanta, Georgia, and it had these numbers:
since Oct 1, 2019 through Feb 29, 2020 (5 months total), there have been 34 to 49 million cases, 16 to 23 million medical visits, and 350,000 to 620,000 hospitalizations, with 20,000 to 52,000 deaths.
These are amazing numbers, esp. the last ones, which mean approximately 4,000 people in the US per month have died from the flu since Oct 1, 2019.
It also makes you wonder about what the leading cause of death is (heart disease) and what those numbers are.
I remember car deaths being 50,000 per year.
