This might have less to do with concern about the kid's health than with the info the kid shares on social media coming back to bite Cook in the end.

Ahhh...we are back at exploring more of the sodomite side of the news, which I can always count on this website to provide, no matter where in the world it occurs.
If you look up topics under news, you will find hundreds more stories, while much less will show up for Bible or church.
Talk about having an 'ax to grind'

It must have been tough growing up with that last name. I can imagine if he did well in school, they would call him "Smarty Pence"

Yep, sooner or later, I knew the Masons would show up here. It was either them or the Rosicrucians.

Interesting that the source is British, yet the story comes from a US study. How come we don't see this news in a major US website?
A related story is about the Apple exec not wanting his kids to use social media.
I also used to say how terrible it was for the kids to waste time on it, but then I started noticing many 'seasoned citizens' enamored with it, so proud to show photos on their smartphones of their kids, and stopping many of their activities to take a phone call.

Well, I guess we are all grateful that an asteroid did not slam into earth during the recent, much feared and ballyhooed, 'Government Shutdown' that seems to occur on a regular basis. It's as if the Congress critters wanted to get more TV time, so they pull these tricks.
Some interesting comments about the Amish in previous posts, including Amish romance novels that I have never heard of. Of course, I'll bet most of the dozen or so people who comment here don't know that there is a market for Western novels (in Spanish, written by Spanish authors) among the Hispanic community.
Another aspect of this case is the property rights issue--how much freedom do you have to do what you want on your land? In Houston, for example, there is no zoning code, so if you want to expand your hobby woodworking into a full-fledged cabinet shop, complete with vans and workers showing up in the morning to get their supplies and orders, that's OK.
But in the city of Coral Gables, down there in South Florida, you are restricted on what colors you can paint your house. And they can ask you to get a building permit if you want to do any work inside your house, like removing walls, painting, plastering, changing a hot water heater, etc.
In Central Florida, this septic tank issue is a hot one, because m

I would advise their legal counsel to take the route of 'what's good in Japan is good enough for us' because I saw a story on Newsroom Tokyo about them improving their sanitary facilities that in many areas are nothing more than holes in the ground. They showed a kindergarten school that had just gotten commodes installed and how clean and better smelling they are.
Courts in the US have been using international law as a basis for their decisions, so I would take that route.
Besides, there are many areas in the US where outhouses are still in use. I think the Census Bureau keeps track of that.
And I think some in the 'Green Movement' would call it recycling.

Good news, though it makes you wonder...what happened to President Bush?
It also goes to show you how far we have come from those days, and how different he is.
And I think his outspoken views on many hot issues, like the illegal immigrant issue being used by the Democrats today, is what helps him keep and gain support.
I have even heard of Democrats changing their party because of all the idiocy they hear from the media types and Democrats.
Think of it, is has been nearly one year since the inauguration, and they still continue fighting and fighting, trying to find someway to get rid of him.
Can you imagine this happening with either Clinton or Obama?

Last time I looked at the world globe, it seems to me that Alaska is a lot closer to North Korea than Hawaii. Seattle might even be closer, too.
Maybe one good thing about this current tension is that real estate prices in these areas will finally decline, so 'retiring to a condo in Hawaii' can really be an affordable dream, as long as you are ready to "meet your Maker" a bit sooner than those living in Lincoln, Nebraska.

I've never heard of this test, so I had to look it up online and check it out. I printed the sample question and it comes to 24 pages; will have to work on it later.
Meanwhile, in terms of college admissions, I have heard that there is a quota in effect on Asian-American students, since they score so high on these standard tests, have high grades, and lots of extra-curricular activities. Must be due to all that discrimination right?
Harvard was sued for putting this quota system in practice but I don't remember what the final outcome was.

Anyone who watches the Japanese network NHK's "Newsroom Tokyo" any weekday would notice all the problems Japan is having with a declining population.
Today's edition featured a new robot to be used in emergency rooms of their hospitals. Last week it was about Sony producing their robot dog that they had stopped producing.

A famous quote is about what happens when God is not included, how foolish society becomes. Well, Japan is just such a place.
They have one of the lowest percentages of Christian churches, lots of Buddhists and their own brand of 'traditional' religion with many shrines and temples.

This lack of interest in raising children is just one example of their lack of belief in God. All their focus is on their own pleasures.
It is good to study such societies to be able to compare our own society and see what the problems are.

Too bad this news is coming from World Nut Daily (wnd.com) instead of CBS, who originally aired it.
PBS regularly airs documentaries on World War 2, mostly from a British perspective that makes them look glorious and neglects the American effort. Of course, they were all over the world, and the US was mostly concerned with getting out of the Great Depression.
PBS did air a long series on Vietnam, but I did not watch it since I figured it would be putting out the same garbage that filled our heads when the war was in progress. Not having cable TV, I don't know if any other network has aired any documentaries that get to the bottom of the war.
Someone was telling me that we got into Vietnam to take over the French problem, and that DeGaulle was thinking of turning to the communists for help.

It looks like people there were not quite ready to "Meet Their Maker," thus, the panic. I think lawyers may benefit from this because a lot of people will rush out to see them to get their wills written or updated.
Others will start thinking of moving to New Zealand, or Canada.
A lot is said about the dangers of nuclear weapons, but did you know the US 'tested' 65 of them over the Marshall Islands after WW2? The people are still there, though the US has to pay big for the testing.

I have seen many ministers in recognized churches dressed in long black robes that remind me of Darth Vader. Does that mean they are also holding later services for Jedi Knights or just getting us used to it, so one fine Sunday morning, the entire service will be one illustration after another about Star Wars!

And guess who is coming up behind North Korean with development of nuclear missiles? Iran! And they are worse--their objective is to destroy us. At least North Korea is only threatening us with them, to show off their great power.

Interesting bit of news that I have not heard anywhere else, but I wonder...what does it have to do with the focus of this website? Doesn't the Bible teach us to give to Caesar what is due to Caesar, and to pray for those in authority? Other than that, there isn't much teaching as to capitalism vs. communism, the role of the government in providing a Safety Net for everyone or medical care for everyone over 65.

Thanks, 'Wayfarer' for staying on point. It would be great if every comment was only about the news story, and not a discussion between 2 or 3 others over subjects that no one else is interested in.
Another thought about Bible colleges, seminaries declining enrollment is the well-known Decline of the the Denominations. Their buildings are still there, and even here at S.A. there have been stories about what happens when they break away from the denomination. Many do not have enough attendance and enough funds to pay the price of the real estate, which in many cases is very high since the building's location is frequently on main streets in central areas.
Another reason might be the Decline of the Church in general. People today are willing to say they believe in God, but not in 'organized religion.' And, with the internet providing Bible studies, sermons, live services from churches, there is less need to go to a 'bricks and mortar' building as opposed to the past. So then you ask yourself, how to convince people to attend a local church?

Ah...football...what did Chuck Swindoll say of it? A game played by 44 men in desperate need of rest, being watched (in the stadium) by 50,000 people in desperate need of exercise!
Also ironic is that most of those fans can go on and on about 'their' teams as if they own them or coach them, and rave about 'their' favorite players, but I doubt they would want them to come over to their homes for Sunday supper after church!

Sorry to interrupt what seems to be a personal conversation (that might best be held in a coffee shop over a hot cup of chocolate on these cold days) that most readers of this news story have zero interest in following, but to get back to the subject of the article, it is telling that the student population has decreased.
Why is that?
No one wants to study the Bible anymore?
Or have the degrees that MBI offers no longer valid or useful to obtain jobs in churches? Or...are there not many churches to get jobs in?

That's a good reminder that China is still governed by a communist government, which we tend to forget because we see 'made in China' on the labels of so much stuff in our humble abodes. Lately, I've been looking at clothing and notice that some of it is made in Bangladesh or Pakistan, a couple countries with 90 percent Muslim populations. So, are we financing future terrorists?
