MS, maybe because they recognize the historical lineage of the shroud and its authenicity. You shouldn't be opposed to the shroud just because it is associated with the RCC. Many evangelicals believe its authenticity too. Have you looked at any evidence about it?There is a DVD by evangelicals called The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Look it up and get back to me

There is no way the shroud is fake. The c14 test was taken on a piece of cloth that was the most likely spot to be handled by people. The protocols of the c14 test method were all violated. The image on the shroud appears on the utmost top part of the fibers , and the sturp report stated the image could not have been made by dyes, paint, etc. last year a team reported that the blood on the cloth contained biological components only present when an organism undergoes extreme duress (crucifixion, hello?). The shroud contains pollen pollen grains of flowers that are ONLY found near Jerusalem ! It also contains pollen grains from edessa, turkey and Constantinople, locations which history highly suggests the shroud travelled from. The bloodstain pattern on the face of the man on the shroud matches the stain pattern of another relic called the mandilion by over 60 points and both are type AB blood. Analysis of the c14 sample area indicated there was Cotten woven into the Linen cloth. You can google pdf shroud.colm for a 4 page summary of tests done up til a few years ago.

Those in the United States , please call your US Senator and ask them to approve Judge kavanagh to the Supreme Court. This man will help protect religious freedom, freedom of speech to speak out against abortion , and prevent hostile sexual revolution policy.

The word that is translated sodomites is qadesh. It is not always translated sodomites. But it’s irrellevant. My point is, I don’t see how calling a sinner by a derogatory title will open them to the gospel and fulfill the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Do you think you would be more successful in a ministry to any sinful group of you called them a name or offered them acts of charity and when the time comes to share the gospel they are open to it?

Well penny,
Maybe it is not so bad to use the term, but I definitely wouldn't call them a sodomite.

Dr Tim , in my communities of south Florida and liberal college campuses , anyone who is not gay but calls a gay "queer" means it as an insult. How Can you expect to show them Christ when you deride them? Maybe you didn't mean it as an insult but it is hard to tell on text format.

Frank, thank you for the personal attack, which has nothing to do with the topic.

Maybe you didn't realise the article is heterodox.
And James never got his answer, did he?
John , No I didn't realize it was heterodox or promoted legalism.

James, Jaycobee: "Christopher let's start with God's word. How do we know what God's word is?".... I wasn't doubting the Word of God. I'm sure it came across that was. I was asking a rhetorical question. I hope you have asked that question and can defend how we got and why we have the Bible. Did you know Luther wanted to throw out the book of James? Did you know Jude and Revelation and 2nd Peter and some other epistles were not considered scripture by some early Christians? Did you know the Ethiopian church considers 1 Clement part of the New Testament canon? Can you tell me how you know that the Books of the Bible in your Bible are THE right books if the Bible itself doesn't list those books as THE Bible? I restate For the record I am NOT doubting our Bible.

Christopher, thank you for taking the time to write that. I think you are right- I am getting defensive. Would you mind emailing your writing to me and I will leave things at that? I don't want to hurt the Body of Christ. handball8072@gmail.com God bless you all

John UK wrote:
Exactly, Christopher! For example, shall we take Jaycobee's 1050 commands we must keep in order to be saved, or the scriptures?
John 3:36 KJV
(36)  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
It's so simple, even little children can grasp this.
BTW, this is not easy-believism, it is saving faith ism.
Dr Tim and I share a favourite verse or two, such as:
BELIEVE on the LORD JESUS CHRIST and thou shalt be SAVED.
and
CHRIST JESUS came into the world to SAVE SINNERS.
Hi John,

I never said one must keep the 1050 commands in the new testament to be saved. I was asked what God expects of us, and I offered a response.

Jaycobee,
I think your confused plain and simple.
I'm not sure if your aware of this trend from the past few weeks but your posts Jaycobee are filled with questions on what saith these men who wrote these books about the bible?
When you should be asking what saith the Scriptures? Do you see that?
What Jesus taught in Scripture contradicts your point.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye **believe** on him whom he hath sent.
So Hearken to His words? Or wear your own girdle?
Read the Scriptures on the girdle spoken of here and the surrounding text.
Jeremiah 13:10
This evil people, *which refuse to hear my words*, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
I'll again just state that countless numbers of Bible believers have read the text for themselves and come up with contradictory or very different ideas about all sorts of doctrines. That is why it is important to know your history, your archaeology, languages, and the people who translate the Bible one reads from in order to get to

Look at the big picture from all sides, but most importantly, what God says about it all, minus any crafty, age-old explanations from professionals who are paid, and sworn to dupe the wilfully ignorant, whether it be wilfully, or in ignorance. Listen to God, and read what God says, not men. God very clearly condemns, not only their doctrines, but the very system you're looking to save you.
I am trying to look at the picture from all sides. I am also working through Eric Metaxas' biography on Luther. Is there a better biography you would recommend? I am not trying to disrespect God's Word, but I'd hope you'd agree that interpreting God's word is subject to our infallible mind, hence why we endup with so many cults and outlandish interpretations of things. I would gladly talk about doctrine. How about prayer to the saints? How is asking someone in heaven to pray for me any different from asking a loved one on Earth to pray for me?

thank you James. I didn't check the background of that source but on face valve it seemed useful. I think you may understand the point I was trying to make: that being a Christian involves more than just believing. But I don't want to be antagonistic on here. Id like to ask you and Christopher and Lurker if you have come across any Protestant material dealing with Protestant converts to Catolicism like Chesterton, John Henry Newman , Peter Kreeft, Scott hahn, and so forth. Kreeft is the one who started piquing my interest in how someone who is so good at apologetics could be swayed down a path that seems so wrong. I am currently working through the books early Christian doctrines by jnd Anderson vol 1 of the Christian tradition by jaroslav pelikan. Has anyone read these ?

Hey there Jaycobee,
Perhaps this one slipped by you as I don't think you addressed this particular question from Lurker..your under no obligation to answer but thought I'd reiderate the second half again for you.
"That said, you didn't answer my other question: What does God require of you?"
HI James Thomas,

That's a big question. God expects us to believe in His Son, repent, be abstain from what is evil, follow Jesus' example. I also would say that he wants us to obey His Word which came to us from the Prophects and Apostles and Jesus. I found this link on New Testament commands and think this sums up what He expects of us:

Christopher let's start with God's word. How do we know what God's word is? How did we get the list of books that make up the Bible? I never knew how many times the deuterocacon is referenced not only in our scriptures but by the wary Christians. That being said, if it is referenced so much, why should it be excluded? Second, I haven't done this research yet but maybe you have: the councils of hippo and Carthage cited deuterocacon oval books as scripture. If they did, do you know if individuals there Practiced RCC beliefs?

Christopher , it is ok. I'm not offended and understand your point. I think you may be correct to a degree that I am finding reasons to support Rome, but I recognize that all of us have biases. Is it unreasonable to say that after a lot of study, thus far I find the evidence compelling and will stick to the best explanation despite some anomalies that may pop up? I think all of us reason that way. I am still trilling to be open to reason regarding my Protestant Christian background. I see Gods word supports RCC claims. What do you mean when you say it doesn't? I think the rat lines were an abuse by Nazis who used legitimate aid routes for displaced innocent persons as a means to escape prosecution.

Jim Lincoln , the article you posted claims many of America's founders were Deists. I disagree. I don't think they were Deists in the strict sense or evangelical Christian either. I have collected books and articles on the subject. Have you listened to Gregg Fraser from Masters college or David Barton at wallbuilders.org? How about Peter loll back or the material from The Providence Forum? Even Dr D James Kennedy made the argument for a Christian nation. His work can be found at truths that transform. Lenny Esposito has also dealt with this. Come reason.org

Hi lurker, the quote I copied was too long to post. Regarding justification. I found it from Catholic answers. As far as where I stand with God, I see myself as a sinner in need of God's saving and look to Jesus to save me. I have felt closer to him in my Christian walk over the years and have grown increasingly pained when I see sin and hear it spoken. I wish I could say that I am justified by Christ in faith alone and that as His adopted son He will never let me go and that I have the eternal seal of the Holy Spirit as seen in Ephesians. But after studying Christian history I don't think it is as simple as the law of faith yo laid out. I feel Christians can lose salvation. And they who endure to the end will be saved but I pray God gives me the grace to sustain me through final moments in life and not forsake Him. I don't know if that answers your questions or not.
