Jim Lincoln wrote: J3, it looks like you are looking for a rational approach to picking a Bible...Yes Jim, I am. It makes sense for me to admit that God gave His New Testiment Greek text to the Church and not to a bunch of liberal so-called scholars to "discover", and "retore" to us poor ignorant, foolish Christians. Thus I have more faith in God and less confidence in Westcot and Hort to swallow such a tail. Is this a a rational enough approach for you Jim? Do you think that God left His Church without the correct New Testiment text for some 400 years? |

Frank in Texas wrote: "Some sincere Christians think that God's Word was only pure and perfect in the "original manuscripts". I disagree..." Your post is very interesting, Frank. I could use some help here; I swollowed this line some time ago, but am starting to question it. Can you direct me to a sermon or a book? PS how does one use that slick quote insert I see some of you use? |

Money, that is what this is all about. The KJV is not perfect, but it is the best by far. I praise the LORD for it. It is the Bible we should all be using. I am thankful to come home to it after many years of study, effort, and confusion. What a blessing the KJV is to my family. What growth in my walk with God it has produced. Many well known pastors were no help to me in this area, but a great stumbling block. But there are some solid grace men who stand for the KJV who are not of the KJVO type (hype). I think we need to keep talking about this, because so many are confused. Oh that we could all be on the same page (the KJV). Oh that these greedy publishers would dry up and blow away. |

Amen Michael,Ben, I was saved while in a very low state. And it was not "loving" of the Church not urge me on to a new life in Christ, but insted to stumble me to go back to my old Rock-Drug-Culture ways. CCM is wicked, and I have the scars to prove it. Go to the home page for Cornerstone and tell me these people are not complety lost, if you can (warning: you will be defiled). The issue here is understanding what LOVE is. Human love, common to all people, is indulgent and selfish. Christian love is allways governed by the TRUTH of God's WORD. It is discerning and challenging. What we have is this survey is, therefore, very loving to all of the body of Christ. As much as I used to value Mr. Piper's work, I now must love the truth and the Church more, and speak out against what he is doing. What is the aim of all of this? The restoration of John Piper, those who follow him, and any of God's people who might be in the fad of neo-calvinism. Love speaks out: 2 Timothy 4:2-3 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears... |

Mike wrote: "If you see nakedness in a woman who wears pants, it is you who allows it...Nonsense: what I see is what is there. It is men like you who allow it, and women on a power trip who want it. I still want to know why I should have to avert my eyes in Church like I have to do in the world. You do work to avert your eyes in the world, don't you Mike? |

Mike,Be honest! You are a man, of all people you should know that all men are perverts. I can see that I pushed your button. I doubt very much that I am the one who has not done busuness with God on this issue. Again this is worldliness in the reformed faith, a defense of the indefensible, a denial of the total depravity of man. Any man who lets his woman show her private parts in public with only a tight, thin film of fabric covering them is insane. This is an ABSOLUTELY INSANE and worldly practice. How like the world to stick it out there and then to say "you can notice, but only for a minute, anything more is too much". Can I take a picture of your wife in tight pants? Then why is she in them? Think about it Mike! This is important! |
