Mike wrote: Hey, if I pray for your health, might I be opposing God who may "have thought it good" that you be ill? Of course I do not hold to this, so have no problem with this prayer. Get well, Charles. thx oh its ok you wont be, its undoubtedly good that i am ill and one good outcome is that you may pray for me i have in fact selfishly prayed to be better and what i should be doing is thanking god for his providence and asking to be made well - good insight |

John UK wrote: occurred yet or not. I think a-mils generally believe most of the events were symbolic and have been or are being fulfilled right now. Waddayathink? hi john i had something of a crisis over this issue: pre trib or trib removal of the church ? its a very inportant question, anyway i believed the HS was teaching me pre trib but i could also see the historicist view and i doubted what i has been shown but afterwards rejected the historicist view and felt a little ashamed that i had overuled the leading of thye spirit, another thing i noticed about historicists was the ones i met were very adamant and insistent on what they had learned and had some strange fruits also some quite major doctrinal issues like not believing in election. the argumentswere sound but wordly and i have rejected them now and am a pre tribber after a lot of searching which i didnt actually need to do |

i have decided to give myself a new monikerthis rebranding process is because having realised that i am a 'calvinist' for want of a better phrase i feel that my posting name should reflect my elective worldview i also think that it sounds more edgy and will increasse my popularity i am henceforth 'itsaboutheremnant' thankyou, carry on |

here we have the customary charicaturing of the calvinist position to whit 'calvinist popes' 'Argumentative, strident, arrogant' 'narrow party view'etc simple ovservation reveals that these features can be found in any believer especialy if they dont agree with you ! arminists however claim - as usual - to have 'more heart' more experiential more humility and humble or to busy doing Gods work to waste time in 'endless debates' as i predicted these humble folk have scrambled for the moral high ground to survey the bickering eggheads i went to different churches from time to time over the years to find something and heard christ crucified for your sins (sometimes)- guess what? i didnt care and niether do the vast majority of people. 'come to jesus' - why ? I loved my sin so do all the lost. they dont like God if they want to change they cant because free willism teaches that you have to do it - even the lost know that its impossible - what despair the arminist message filled me with and others also free willism offered no hope for a sinner like me. what a blessed relief then to learn that God knows this. faith and repentance is a gift from God. The idea of the sinner 'choosing' God is so obviously at odds with life and scripture i wonder its ever taught |

there it goes- the refrain which ive often heard, btw ive never met someone that went to seminary and was a calvinist, they are all arminanit couldnt possibly be of course could it that those that are well grounded in doctrine are that way because they thought it was important ? It couldnt be a sign of obedience could it ? That they realised their ignorance and responsibility to know the word to explain the difficult questions and consequently had a pressing desire to make good their failing ? could it possibly be that they were grateful to their God and wanted to learn as quickly as possible all that they could ? no of course not, no the real reason according to those that dont share that enthusiasm is that they are dry bones, souless eggheads that are so immersed in their 'theology ' that its a substitiute for 'the real thing' Their 'obsesion' with biblical truth is evidence of their lack of love. Gods word is the real thing and 'he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him' doctrine is precious. I take pleasure and satisfaction and comfort in understanding good doctrine because God has given understanding and if he does then its a sign of election and calling and approval. God first people second |

General observations over the last two years'calvinists' enthusiastic about doctrine like their God with a big G generally young earth creationists biblicaly literate can always provide an answer to the 'difficult ' questions slow to acccuse others or take the moral high ground primarily biblical worldview 'arminists' dont like discussing 'divisive' doctrines God with a little g often theistic evolutionists believe mans 'free will'before sovreignty often unable to answer 'difficult' questions from the unsaved generally insecure and defensive, dont like discussing differences of doctrine, quick to accuse interested in the moral highground. generally humanist world view ie when talking about others: 'intellectual pride and your tedious arguments ' 'Please forgive us, Lord, for our disobedience and ingratitude ' example of closing down discusion - inference - the discusion of doctrine is not a matter above life and death (it is ) but something we all agree about at all costs even if truth and understanding is sacrificed |
