It sounds like 'sc' is of the opinion that all uses of the word 'wine' in the Bible are alcohol-free versions of wine, as if such a thing ever existed. I'm glad the Holy Spirit has revealed this to him/her, because I have not been so informed. (It does make me wonder about anyone who says a word in the Bible means something different than the plain understanding of it would give. If we need 'experts' to explain the Bible to us, then we might as well go back to the RCC that says only they can interpret the Bible correctly) What has been revealed to me is that alcoholism occurs more frequently in groups that try to prevent all alcohol than in groups that allow it sparingly. In plain English, this means that there are few Orthodox Jewish alcoholics because they grow up being exposed to wine (yes, modern wine, with its usual alcohol content). But there are many Baptist alcoholics because there is so much shame and guilt attached to any consumption of alcohol. I also saw a chart showing the alcohol consumption world wide. The US rate is 9.1 liters of pure alcohol per capita. This is way behind a country like Belarus with 15 liters. To translate this amount to 'strong drink' like whiskey, rum, or vodka, the US rate would be 10 drinks per week per capita. That's a lot of drinking! |

And for this, parents and grandparents are saving money in 529, ESA plans?People need to take a serious look at what is being taught at college, though we know it is only a place to get a diploma so you can go on to a job that should pay you enough to pay for the investment. Besides that, I've read that 90 percent of what you study in college, you forget, unless you are using it daily on your job. I still remember another case, mentioned in a Michael Yousef sermon, where a grandparent (or uncle?) had died with a will saying he would pay for the college education of his grandson (or nephew). But he didn't specify a time limit, so this guy stayed in college all his life, until he reached 60-something to collect Social Security. (He must have not read the Soc.Sec. rulebook that says your payout is based on a 35-yr work history, so since he never worked a day in his life, he gets only the minimum.) |
