You are right Christopher, but this tactic will work. The West has emasculated itself and is weak, therefore Eastern forces will present themselves as masculine, on a set course, and championing "traditional" principles. Think aboutRussia, ISIS and other Muslim militants; they are devilish but present a distinction between man and woman, are "religious" and offer an alternative to the West's confused, self-indulgent, and weak posture.
Putin looks at Obama and America and laughs because he sees Obama and the Left trying to play the game he has mastered...mass manipulation through controlled propaganda.

Michael,
Resting on assurances is not a vice but indicative of faith. But, I do understand your point. There have been incidents or an air with some as coming across as the "frozen chosen" or adhering to the idea of what Alistair Begg described as the "Us four, no more, shut the door" crowd.
I guess my prickly Reformed ears perk up when I see blanket statements. Thanks for the clarification.

Michael,
Everything is predetermined. How else do you explain Heaven, Hell, Revelations, prophecy, and ALL of existence? Calvinists pray because it is commanded and is part of the predetermined will of God to use the prayers of the saints,as well as their obedient actions and life for the advancement of the kingdom.
Your broad brushing Calvinists with lazy judgments doesn't reflect well your profession.

Romans 1 Christopher...Romans 1. This demonic saturation of perversion isn't a clampdown on God, but a curse administered BY God. All these "rainbow" celebrations are the direct result of God not only turning individuals over, but whole cultures to their depravity.

what was censored? Was it language (profanity)? Time for cultural etiquette is long gone. Let us talk forcibly now; open honest debate is needed. We must learn to answer and toughen our emasculated/effeminate hides. I do not mean a barrage of incoherent, profanity-laden babble; but raw expression of thought is healthy. The days of marshmallow, 1950's water downed jibber jabber has been conspicuously shutdown.
God is separating the goats from the sheep; chaff from the wheat. Let us reason here and everywhere, not clampdown speech because of personal sensibilities.

Read Acts 17 before you judge the REAL problem of using a cultural reference...Paul quoted a Greek playwright. God uses ALL vessels to spread his word. He uses even the demons to do his will.

For those who read or saw the movie:
The scene where Golem takes the ring from Frodo but only has the split second to enjoy it before being engulfed by the fires of Mordor...that's what this country is now. What does it benefit a man to gain the WHOLE world (his precious) but lose his soul?

Brothers and Sisters,
God has pulled back his hand from our country. SCOTUS struck down bans on sodomite "marriage". NOW is the time to stand together in Christ. Boldness in the face of certain tribulation is need of our lives starting TODAY!
I love you all and pray for your perseverance, hope, joy, and holiness that is found ONLY in Christ.

"All people need to hear the Gospel and even those who are saved need to hear it again, be reminded and remember all that is at stake."

Michael,
This is the matter at hand, which I agree with you. Besides the gross error of RCC teaching, everything else you wrote can be, and is, debated. Assumption, either way, Protestant or Catholic, saved or not, can be a problem. I respect your stance on salvation and how crucial it is to all men. We are brothers who desire the redemption of all by, through, and to the glory of Christ.

Christopher,
The bigger issue, much more than Louis Fara-cuckoo, is:
1. He made these comments in the AME CHURCH in D.C.
2. The crowd did not boo or walkout, but cheered and agreed with him!

You are right...complete double standards. Would not surprise me if the cops ( one of which was black, Louis) sued him for defamation.

Michael,
As much as the RCC doctrine is wrong, we should not assume this couple is not Christian, or any other "Catholic" for that matter. I say this because of the Reformation. THE church was the Roman Catholic Church. ALL the Reformers were raised "Catholic" and some were monks (Luther for example). To think these people were NOT Christian prior to the Reformation is a misguided stretch.
This does not mean the RCC is sound, but means God uses all vessels to quicken His people with his Word.
With that said, we should pray for this couple nonetheless and I commend and appreciate that you focus on the REAL issue at hand.

This is not about a flag, it's about a culture unable to come to grips with human depravity and the forgiveness of Christ. What are the two big "issues" of the past week? Guns and a flag, both of which are inanimate objects. The media can't stay on the Christian families forgiving the murderer days after he gunned their loved ones down. That doesn't fit their narrative and honestly escapes their comprehension. Besides, as reports revealed yesterday, the sales of confederate flags were up over 3000%
Bear is right, the enemy is very active requiring our fervent prayers, diligence, and living out our faith before a darkening world.

Lie Detector,
Are you implying we do NOT have a sin nature and God is not sovereign over souls? Please cite scriptures.
How do you reconcile Romans 3, 8, and 9 as well as John 6 with your assertions? Or even Jeremiah 17:9? Augustine, followed by Calvin and others, merely highlighted what was in scripture; mainly, man's utter inability or natural desire to seek, obey, or love God and God's predetermined, sovereign election, through his sufficient and unmerited grace, of his children.

John UK wrote
"And what are my American friends doing? Walking about in fear, just like a sparrow is always pecking away at grubs with a keen eye open for predators."
This is an absurd statement; culturally induced and stereotyping. Walking in fear? I and many Christians in America FEAR the Lord, but do not TRUST man. I do believe God's graceful protection of your country has developed a presumptuous attitude in you. It's easy to speak of faithful valor and trust when the seas are calm, but what about stormy weather my faithful friend? America has forsaken God's conspicuous grace upon her, therefore it's become a hostile place more and more. I do not think one living in comfort should bind someone living in growing hostility to a standard that is obviously rooted in earthly standards. If you do not "eat meat" (own a gun) that is your preference. But, a man must be convinced in his own conscience to live with or without a gun, either way his faith is confirmed.

John,
Old covenant? The ten words (commandments) were in the old covenant. Shall we assume they no longer apply?
Luke 22:35-38 is what you want set up for you. Take a shot at it mate.

John,
Exodus 22:2 is specific to the scenario I presented. 1 Timothy 5:8 mentions providing for the family. I know the context is specific to sustenance, but protection is inferred.

John,
There is no doubt I, you, and everyone else is influenced by the surrounding culture. It really comes down to whether this issue is binding to a person's faith or not. I believe it is not. Having a gun or not doesn't reduce or heighten an individual's faith. I also believe missionary work and protecting my family from home invaders are separate. You do not have a precedent that establishes unbelief if someone has a gun. Again, either way, it is not a binding issue.
I thank God that you can live in a country that violence is not at your doorstep and that it only took Dolores' husband calling the cops for a thief to flee. I trust Christ and understand that he weight and reality of the scriptures you presented. But, I still believe the contextual use was misapplied.

John,
I accept the scripture you present, but the context doesn't apply. Missionary work and protecting my family are worlds apart. Francis approached Moslems, like Paul did Gentiles, with the Sword of the Spirit because that's what converts a man. Moslems use the sword to convert by compulsion. My reference is related to neither. My house was broken into and the two thieves were leaving as my wife was pulling in. Praise God nothing bad happened, but I challenge you to convince me that if the thieves decided to break in when my wife and I were home that I should talk them away rather than use a tool of protection. I'll spare you the trouble, I will not be convinced.

if Francis would read the scripture, and search his own heart, he would realize the world is fallen and idangerous. Further, he would notice how the Word warns that the world "waxes" worse by each passing day. Finally, he would find that his position and teachings are the doctrine of men and not of the Spirit.
Guns are a tool, not a magical object that acts autonomously, killing people. The scripture says we are to take care of our family, friends that includes protecting them. Anyone who would say a gun owner is a "sissy" or doesn't trust God speaks from passion, ignorance, or both.
