Ladybug, yes ma'am. I agree with you. Personally, I like the method Ray Comfort uses-walking the person through the 10 commandments. It led to me condemning myself. Humbling to see how dirty I really was (and still am....Praise the Lord for Philippians 1:6!)
Proverbs 23:27 "For a whore is a deep ditch: and a strange woman is a narrow pit. 28. She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increasth the transgressors among men."
1 Kings 3:16 "Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him "
Two thoughts; 1) Whore is a biblical word. Look the word up and see what God thinks of them. Perhaps though some would prefer the word harlot? 2)There's nothing wrong with calling sin, sin. A theif is a theif. A murderer is a murderer. A liar is a liar. And a whore is a whore. All have part in the lake of fire, Revelation 21:8
Strat, the thing that gets me is "christian" women athletes....I'll take them serious when they put some clothes on and show a genuine desire of obeying God (1 Timothy 2:9)
Anne, it's great to see you posting! All is well with baby. She's rolling like a tumbleweed!!! How is your son? I've pondered what I would do in her position as well. Praying for you and yours dear sister!
Ah yes to often thenliterature we are "suppose" to teach our children to love is disgusting...you know like "The Shades of 50 NO NO'S!" and "Heaven is for Real (though the story is not)"......:shakinghead:
Christopher, II'm familiar with that game of tug of war. I hollar jutstice and then plead for their salvation. Let's just say I'm more than thankful that judging (in this sense) is not my job but is instead the job of a Holy, Just God who knows all mens heart and will always do what is right.
William, I wonder what they make of John 8:44 "ye are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father ye will do"
I'd say most Americans have a problem with being drunk on sugar. Joey Faust, here on SA, has a good sermon on that.
Alcohol abuse is frustrating. My generation abuses it like crazy. It's sad. Before my husband and I left our former church a man showed up in a shirt that had two thumbs pointing at him with the words "This guy needs a beer." And no one said anything. Not even the pastor Strat and Shane, I have relatives that our mormon. My great grandma was buried in a wedding dress?
From the article: " “Both Vines and Brownson hold a ‘high view’ of Scripture, meaning it is the final authority on all matters of faith and life,” she explains. “
O really now? Then they would agree sodomy is a sin -Leviticus 18:22. Of course they don't agree with that because God is not their Lord. Being as that's the case they don't hold scripture in a "high view."
Again fron the article, encouraging the church to change it's view she states, " Powers writes, “The church has done this before on issues ranging from slavery to the solar system.” Heliocentricity vs geocentricity. Makes for an interesting study.
From the article " Traditional religions hymns will not be sung, instead the congregation will hear a DJ scratching hip-hop beats.
“We’ve taken the hip-hop culture and we’ve extracted all the negative connotations out of it and we’ve deposited solid Christian doctrine in there,” Rodgers told WBTV."
Replaced the "negative connations" with "solid christian doctrine" using "scratching hip-hop beats"?! Sorry bud. It doesn't add up.
Stevenr, the verse you are referring too (1 Corinthians 7:1,2) is talking about marriage. It says nothing about having children. Be fruitul and multiply hasn't changed. When speaking to the Pharisees Jesus refrenced Genesis 1 for what God desires in a marriage-part of that is having children (it's the natural thing to do). See Malachi 2:15.
