The big reason that families are choosing to homeschool is COVID-19, but I'm curious as to any other reasoning. Watching footage of the BLM protests, I wonder how many many parents suddenly saw the end of what their children are being taught? We've had several people tell us recently how children went off to college and came back either as guilty for being white or angry at their parents for being white.

Normalization of abnormal behavior is a key element of the Progressive platform.

How sad that Disney has pursued this approach. Something about a millstone and being cast into the depths...

Good point, YIA. Hope you and your fiance are well, Brother.

Psalm 92 applies perhaps. Sometimes the wicked seem to prosper. But they tend do so like grass, which springs up today everywhere and is burned up tomorrow. The Lord has limits for the wicked and for wicked nations, seen in His treatment of the Caananites. Perhaps the Lord is displaying less tolerance for Calfornia than for other places? Or maybe we domt play as close attention when those other places arent so close to home?

That is the nature of sin, Brother Tim. It is very caustic and difficult, if not impossible, to contain within established boundaries. Always destructive, it seems to destroy more and more, wider and wider. Praying for your family. What of the kin who was hearing voices?

It is interesting that California is experiencing some strange and extreme weather. With the dry lightning strikes, extreme heat, and fires along with rolling blackouts, one would think the Lord is getting after California. Of course, the Progressives will blame it on human activity fueling global warming. The worse the California government acts, the worse the state seems to take a beating. Reminds me of a verse:

And men boiled in great heat, and blasphemed the Name of God, which hath power over these plagues, and they repented not to give him glory. - Revelation 16:9

Laughable indeed. Being my brother's keeper means that I reach out to my brother, I don't franchise the government to do it for me. Being my brother's keeper means I don't put stumbling blocks of sexual immorality and abortion in his path. Being my brother's keeper means that I speak the truth in love, even when we dont agree and don't sic the hounds of tell on him to bring him to heel. And a brother's keeper stands on Christ alone for salvation and offers Him to his brother. Biden isn't the kind of brother I need or I would seek to be.

How's your family, Brother Tim? Still praying.

Amen to that, Brother Watcher! Sometimes, though, we have the calling to serve thru government service. Daniel and his three buddies were more like they were impressed into government service then volunteers, but the principles remain. For those called to serve or stand, may the Lord be with them.

I think for MacArthur, he saw the handwriting on the wall and decided to step forward and stand up. Honestly, I've seen the frustration of other pastors with like mindsets, although not in California. There is a broader backdrop of Californian politics which is harshly anti-Christian. Everyone has his breaking point. My sense is that GCC hit theirs and said "Enough!" What makes GCC a special case is they are too large for the county to handle. Smaller churches would have been forced to knuckle under by now.

That's an honest assessment, Watcher. What makes it hard is that most of us see our citizenship and form of government having been crafted by men with faith in light of that faith and based on Biblical principle. Another factor is that we have a Christian responsibility to be salt and light in this world, and one way we can do that is through the operation of the government and our influence over it. To otherwise woukd be to compartmentize ourourselves into part Christian, part citizen. We need to be all Christian, but that includes our civic role in how we interact with and participate within government. Here in the US, it also means we may protest the government. So I hear you, and fully admit my own bias. I need Jesus' covering every second.

Amen, Watcher. We all have bias in our thinking. Almost all of us would say we are Christians first and Americans second. But we, like Paul, can resort to our citizenship and our place in government. The Lord has placed us in such a time and place as this. How will we use this time? MacArthur has offered himself to stand up against tyrrany. You probably see this more than we do being a Canadian in a much more Progressive society, but at some point, we're going to get martyred by the Marxists anyway. Might as well stand up and proclaim the freedom we have in Christ and through Christ as that freedom intrudes into the political sphere.

I hear you, Brother Watcher, and one this one we disagree.

Paul had no input or role in the Roman Empire other than taxpayer. In the US, there is a different political system, at least for now. I'm sure that if we took this far enough, we'd wind up debating whether my great, great, great, etc grandfathers were right in going to war against the Crown to separate, in rebellion. Yours may well have declined to join us upstarts. One of the rallying cries of that conflict was "No king but Jesus!" The same Presbyterians who had upheld the royalty, to their peril, had offspring that stood against the royal lineage of GB.

I suppose, Brother Watcher, how one defines the requirements of worship and whether gathering virtually is sufficient or what the nature of gathering together is required.

If we believed the government and that this is really all about the pandemic, I personally believe the church closure orders would be easier to accept. But because the closure seem to be politically motivated and our governments are of the people, by the people, and for the people, men like MacArthur are establishing whom they will serve - the Lord or the state. While it is the blending of political right with Biblical viewpoint, even those who are complying are doing so with increasing frustration.

Like MacArthur, I see this as a slippery slope. Today it's the forbidding to congregate and worship. Tomorrow it will be like the 84 year old Christian in China who was ordered by authorities to pray to Xi rather than the Lord, removing the cross from his home. So the situation is becoming more like Daniel 3. Moses would have ceded the point of Exodus 5 having been rejected by Pharoah. Should MacAurthur have done so? Are we not to pursue justice based on actual truth.

Watcher, I appreciate your stance for the word of God and particularly Romans 13. Perhaps our American experience in withstanding what we considered tyrrany at the hands of Parliment and King George III colors our stance.

I must ask, Brother, how you consider the actions of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3? Or the insistence of Moses to Pharoah that Israel be released to go three days journey into the wilderness to worship the Lord in Exodus 5:1-3 which Pharoah would not allow?

Franklin Graham sure takes a lot of flak on this board, but I sure agree with this comment from him.

Juxtapose Franklin with Jim L a minute. Franklin is comparing the morals and positions of Biden & Co with the word of God and the Lord's precepts, which endure forever. Jim L is comparing the morals and positions of both major candidates against crowd-sourced Marxist ideals, which will change like the wind to suit their agenda.

"More than 1 in 10 respondents compemplated suicide in the prior 30 days."

Seems like the fields are white for harvest. Now must be a great time for the Gospel to be shared. But with churches hampered as bodies, will individual Christians step out of their comfort zone and offer this Good News?

O Lord, we lift to you our Brother Tim and his family, who are suffering from various attacks by our Enemy. Have mercy and defend them, O Lord. See them through, we beseech Thee. And make them ready to sing Your praises on the other side of this trouble. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Nothing to regret, Brother Mike. But the Lord brought the jailer to that point, had men there ready to answer the particulars, and even gave him the life and breath to use to ask. In the end, there is nothing that will not have been of the Lord in salvation.

In general, one thing that has been a mystery to me is how and why the Lord would permit those whom He has redeemed to have differences of opinion, even on key passages. If we have the same Spirit, how can we then have differences in viewpoint, sometimes rather extreme.

My best guess is that it is not because we all are right but we all are wrong in determining the mind of God and His meaning. He is the only factor in our redemption. He alone will have the glory in leading captivity captive. It always was, is, and will be Him alone. Meanwhile, we have so much tainting from sin we can never see Him clearly in this life.
