“ Two blessed sermons to hear ”
'Jesus is ...your Friend, sticking closer than a brother; your Shepherd, with you in death's dark vale; your Help and your Deliverer; your Castle and your High Tower; the Horn of your strength, your confidence, your joy, your all in all, and your Yea and Amen in all.' C H Spurgeon daily reading for today read after hearing this wonderful encouragement and also your blessed sermon 'I am ready to depart'. Both a great blessing, for any seeking God's encouragement!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Converted 1990 then went to FIEC Church where the Pastor placed BG on a pedestal, and was involved in ‘BG Scotland 1991’. I influenced several folk to attend - 3 people making professions of faith including my mother. I noted there was no conviction of sin, all 3 proved to be false converts of the easy-believism 'gospel'. Speaking to Pastor I mentioned I was burdened for RC’s and had some tracts. He told me to burn them on the fire. Providentially I was reading ‘J C Ryle: Why Were Our Reformers Burned’. The pastor told me then that several in the fellowship were RC, and that he enjoyed fellowship with the local RC priest, just like BG. My mind was in a whirl. Providentially, Stephen Hamilton of Glasgow Free Presbyterian Church had some pamphlets exposing BG’s ministry. The Lord provided the answers …BG is the main instrument of the ecumenical downgrade easy believism in the UK Thank you Stephen. I haven't at hand the larger paper you sent, but still have the one 'Billy Graham and His Bible'. Your kindness eventually led me to grasp the evils of Ecumenism and Popery as a new believer and to separate from it. Every encouragement and blessing from a thankful brother in Christ, and thank you for this faithful review of BG.

Providentially my Bible chapters are Joshua 20,21 (yesterday and today) so had been thinking upon the Cities of Refuge, so a blessing to see how they are Types of the Lord Jesus Christ, as the sinners ONLY refuge. A very blessed gospel sermon.

The providence of God orders everything in our lives-'making our plans?'-IF the Lord wills! A very helpful sermon to cultivate trust in the Lord, that 'everything' depends upon God.

I learned of Brian Green's home call listening to the sermon below this Lord's Day evening which apparently was the text upon Brian's heart. Like this sermon from Mark Biddle it might also be an encouragement to all who knew and loved Dr Green. 'He will be our guide even unto death' 3/5/2017 Psalm 48:14 Rev. Worth a read:

“A Brand Snatched From The Fire”

Costi Hinn is Benny Hinn’s nephew ...

'how he has now embraced the sovereignty of God in salvation and is a cessationist believing that God heals when He sovereignly chooses to do so but that no one possesses the gift of healing. He is passionate about the Truth and is unafraid to call out his uncle as a false teacher and false prophet'

Why This Topic, Why Now? (Lecture 1 of 4, Rev. Todd Ruddell)

The Pope is Antichrist

Sadly very few know why the Church held to 'The Pope is Antichrist' and what 'anti' means in Scripture and denounce this position with no study or understanding of how important it is. If we don't know why the church held this position e.g. The Westminster Confession; The 39 ARTICLES; 1689 Baptist Confession, and Ryle, Spurgeon, Whitefield etc. then the above 4 lectures are very clear and may I say convincing. I am not interested in debate, only interested that we all understand why this position is still maintained today by many Christians with scriptural conviction. Have a study of the above and consider WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO BE WARNING ...

'It is the bounden duty of every Christian to pray against Antichrist, and as to what Antichrist is no sane man ought to raise a question. If it be not the popery in the Church of Rome there is nothing in the world that can be called by that name. If there were to be issued a hue and cry for Antichrist, we should certainly take up this church on suspicion, and it would certainly not be let loose again, for it so exactly answers the description." C H Spurgeon

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you for such a wonderful and encouraging message. I was thinking upon something I had heard…how easy it is to do a ‘Theological’ Theory Test and tick the right box every time in answering the question correctly: IS THERE ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD?... “No!” But are we prepared for when it becomes the reality and the difficult Practical Test and we are in personal trouble and at our wits' end; and trouble will come for every believer, do we become like the pseudo Christian (unbelief) or too easily forget our past deliverances? Can we now put the theory into practice and TRUST THE LORD, 'O ye of Little faith'? ‘Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Jeremiah 32: 27 ‘And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.’ Psalm 50:15 ‘Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee’ Jeremiah 32:17 The above should always be our DAILY REMEMBRANCER for our Helper is the LORD GOD WHO…MADE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH! Think about that!! The sermon is a much needed personal reminder and great help, so greatly blessed.

Erasmus Anecdotes

“ very helpful and instructive ”
the effort to topple the Textus Receptus 'The paper explores two dubious scholarly anecdotes which frequently circulate regarding Erasmus' Novum Instrumentum (1516), which I refer to as the "rush to print" anecdote and the "rash wager" anecdote.  Here is a snippet from the paper: It is the contention of this paper that during the nineteenth century, as part of the effort to topple the Textus Receptus and support the rise of the modern critical text, a number of unflattering scholarly anecdotes regarding Erasmus’ Greek text began to circulate in secondary literature on the text and translation of the New Testament.  Several of these anecdotes have taken on legendary if not mythic proportions, having been passed from scholar to scholar and from student to student, often without any firm evidence or proof from primary sources to support their veracity.  Furthermore, these anecdotes continue to be retold from teaching lecterns and to be reprinted in contemporary works on text and translation.

Many would only consider such in light of those walking in false doctrine, apostasy, and spiritual darkness but there is also the weighty consideration of our own daily walk and fellowship with our Lord and God. Very beneficial.

Sermon:
Prisoners of Hope
Rev. John Thackway
1
comment
“ A comforting word of hope and blessing! ”
A very beneficial blessing. Having heard this sermon last Lord’s Day the Lord, in His good pleasure, has providentially brought before me this past week a host of devotional scripture dealing with deliverance from ‘prison’ and to continue to hope and trust Him, for deliverance is on its way! A Christian should never be a prisoner of despair in doubting castle, not when he knows that the Lord will provide the key of escape. Rev Thackway proves that we are to be “prisoners of hope”, even when the Lord God has shut us up-bound and confined-when we can do nothing else but hope in God, it is the Lord that is our warder and who is with us even when our present circumstances can appear to be a shut prison, with no human escape. ‘Hope thou in God’ Ps 42.5, for there is a time of deliverance-the Lord’s appointed time.. Ps 34: 4-6 ‘I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears...This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.’ ‘Joy cometh in the morning’.. Ps 146.5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God!!! A blessed sermon 'in the day of trouble'.

Rev. John Thackway

“ ‘Helped and Benefitted in MY Troubles’ ”
Thank you for such a providential blessing re: God sending our trials and our troubles and His Sovereignty and care as He superintends those trials and gives grace. I had been contemplating comments by Spurgeon ‘ Morning’ February 18 and 19th and the Daily Remebrancer for the 19th and then also the TBS calendar chapter for today Psalm 102, so you can appreciate that this sermon was a great encourager. The Psalms also gave encouragement to pray for deliverance from troubles as v2 'Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily': and 102: 1,2 and 17 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily... He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. "Trials make the promise sweet; Trials give new life to prayer; Trials bring me to his feet, Lay me low, and keep me there." "Prayer makes the darken'd cloud withdraw; Prayer climbs the ladder Jacob saw; Gives exercise to faith and love; Brings every blessing from above." Psalms 34:17,19 - [The righteous] cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles...Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of the

Sadly there were 2 football supporters on the plane from my area travelling to New Zealand to watch their idols NUFC play a friendly game, one nicknamed ‘the undertaker’ who never expected to be ushered into eternity on that flight.

Reading the report it is amazing that a steward changed flights at the last minute so he could work on Flight MH17 and therefore lost his life, whilst his wife had swapped off the doomed and missing Flight MH370 and her life was therefore spared.

A British couple got it right as they providentially escaped:
‘There must have been somebody watching over us’: British family cheated death on MH17 by being bumped off flight when they arrived at check-in’

If God is indeed watching over us and keeps the earth spinning in the heavens, can a meteorite fall from the sky and land on my head just by chance? Were those on the plane unlucky and those who were providentialy spared at the very last minute just very lucky indeed?

A couple of good Bible books that might be helpful:
