It is too bad, Jim, that any nation had to take that step. Certainly the EU will have pressure to conform to more contemporary but unbiblical norms.
Every nation has the authority to eatablish, via penal and criminal code as well as civil, the morals of its nation. Those morals will be based on something. Either they are based on the word of God or on man's ideas of right & wrong. The Hungarians chose to go with the older and truer definition rather than the more contemporary and corrupt version. May the Lord bless that nation.
I also ask that the Lord bless ours as well, but with a recovery of righteousness that comes thru faith in Christ.
The CCP's Cultural Revolution 2.0 has gained intensity.
The goal is to stamp out faith in Christ by limiting it to the adult generations only. They started by teasing believers out in the open thru the Three Self Church organization. Now they are just hammering believers.
Brother Adriel has a key point. Like so many container loads of Chinese manufactured goods, the CCP has also exported its cultural revolution. We should expect, unless the Lord changes our trajectory, to see similar efforts here in the US as well as the UK. Already efforts in public school to teach our children to be atheistic evolutionists and social justice warriors has undermined faith tremendously.
While we can be assured that His sheep still hear His voice, the impact on the rest of society is telling. There is no longer a fear or respect of the Lord, plunging our societies into horrendous cesspools of moral filth and decadence.
We need to take back public education. But the alternative, removing their family from it, is a worthy step for any set of parents.
Then afterward Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may celebrate a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should hear his voice, and let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go. And they said, We worship the God of the Hebrews: we pray thee, let us go three days’ journey in the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God, lest he bring upon us the pestilence or sword. Then said the King of Egypt unto them, Moses and Aaron, why cause ye the people to cease from their works? get you to your burdens. - Exodus 5:1-4
Brother Neil, you always make excellent and well founded points. I'm not as hard over against science per se, just shoddy analysis of observed data. But that's also my background and, therefore, bias.
I'm not sure that the study of the natural world isn't without merit, especially since it ought to reveal something of the Lord in His creativity, etc. I am sure that Enlightenment thinking ruined good thought processes.
The problem addressed in the news item is akin to our discussion. Science doesn't offer as many answers as we think and too often just builds confusion. In the care of the publically educated child, the teaching is solidly secular humanistic and evolutionary. Ham has a point that countering that onslaught is difficult, which is well known. And the desire to influence our children in such a way is very strong.
I'm amazed that it's taken this long for the annual fight over "Christmas" to get started.
Brother Unprofitable, Amen. The Incarnation is key to our salvation and more. By taking on flesh, He has become our Representative before the Throne, that perfect High Priest.
No one knows Jesus' actual birthday. The early church copt'd onto a pagan soltice celebration as they had the True Light which came into the World (John 1). The date doesn't matter. The tree in our living room symbolizes those along the banks of the River in the New Jerusalem (Rev 22). We give gifts because Christ gave gifts to us (Ephesians 4).
Condemn us or stand with us, we celebrate Jesus today. Just like you do. And we'll do it again for the next 364 days. But today we focus deeply on one aspect - His Incarnation.
My family & I were in a large city church for Christmas Eve where we'd worshipped occasionally prior to COVID shutdowns. We were surprised to note several city police officers in uniform and fully equipped standing by the entrance. One was on the street out front as we left like a greeter. So it's not just Nigeria where folks feel threatened. The threat may be larger there, but that was something new for us.
Critical Race Theory is a tool to anger those of African descent and guilt those who are not. The real culprit s fatherlessness. But even still, there remain plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to put in the work.
While some have expressed a sincere fear of being unduely abused by the police, which we all might, many have expressed a sincere fear of living in crime ridden areas.
The answer is in the response to the Gospel, and that's going to take both the sent and the senders to bring that two-fold message of reconcilation...vertical and horizontal...to bring that precious word.
Excellent question. Here's the problem... Lack of access and influence over homeschooled children has the potential to lead to new restrictions and complications for homeschooling families. When we were a small number, few noticed and no one cared. Now that we've grown larger, we will gain more attention and not the kind we'd like.
HSLDA with many others has fought to establish homeschool freedom of sorts state to state. They have a tough road ahead to maintain what gains have been achieved, I'm afraid.
My family is a few years from being thru to college. But what about those with younger children? What about our children's children?
Ken Ham has been pointing this out for years. When education opposes Biblical theology & the school has our children for 180 days or more each year, that's a lot of influence. Coupled with a lack of Biblical knowledge from Dad and Mom at home to help explain their faith, our children get washed away.
I get it having been brought up in a nominal Christian home with a liberal mainline church. Thank the Lord He called me out of that and then revealed His truth as described in His word or an old earth evolutionist I would be still!
What comes out in the next few months may well invalidate the election. The Democrats and their MSM mouthpieces/cohorts don't have to keep the truth hdden forever, just past the Inauguration. At that point we may well be faced with a choice: accept the Harris/Biden Administration or accept the Pelosi Administration. We may yet wind up with President Pelosi.
Folks who believe in their ends-justify-the-means will do anything to achieve their goals. There is no Biblical ethic in that; it's just sin. We truly live in an Isaiah 59 society.
It has been my observation that Satan often attacks the children of the Godly parent. There are many OT examples and a nbr of contemporary ones with whom we are all familiar. Jim's criticism is based on outcome over which they and we have no control. That is up to the Lord.
My comment on yesterday's story of the same sort posting stands here as well.
Jim does have a point in a sense, though. Some of us are the offspring of Godly forbearers who created and protected this republic and nation. There are many around us who have twisted that effort into their own image using Critical Theory and demanding that we "continue the American Revolution because there is income inequality, racial inequality, environmental inequality, and health care inequality." Have not these followed in the footsteps of the Unitarian Universalists?
Read the words of those who came here, not the dribble that has been written about them.
