It has been some time since I saw the movie, but am I not right in saying that at the end of it, Jesus is dead and Judas is alive?

Real Presence:

Irrevelant to the discussion of Islam and Catholics, yes. But it was brought up regardless, and this rabbit has been being chased for some time. You were right though, I think you were avoiding the question.

In response to your statement...

I know what the Lord's Supper is. Thank you, and all the others for pointing out the passages of where it found... What I want to know is where the priest gets the power to turn the bread to the body and the wine to the blood. You are all batting a "0" at the moment on the question.

Lets play the game for a moment if we must. Where were the apostles given the authority to change the bread to the body and the wine to the blood? I see where they eat it, I even see where they are commanded to partake in it. I just never see where they are given the power to change it. Hence the original question.

To answer the other half of your post. A true preacher would tell you he gets his doctrine from the Bible, and show it, specifically, chapter and verse, very clearly. It would not be something joined together with tradition. Note, I said a true preacher and true doctrine. I know there are false preachers.

That was a nice attempt to change course, yet the question remains, where do the preists get the power?

lurker:

preservation is easy to find for it is easily found in the Bible. agreed?

to find the meaning of persevere...

one must be able to define it, right?

so, come along handy-dandy 1828 dictionary... ahh, here it is...

PERSEVE'RE, v.i. [L.persevero. The last component part of this word, severo, must be the same as in assevero, with the radical sense of set, fixed or continued. So persist is formed with per and sisto, to stand. Constant and continue have a like primary sense. So we say, to hold on.]

- To persist in any business or enterprise undertaken; to pursue steadily any design or course commenced; not to give over or abandon what is undertaken; applied alike to good and evil.

Pretty good definition eh? Yes, i agree. That one part though... to persist... that would be the kicker.

could someone persevere for you? that would be the question. hard one too, for can persevere and preserve be used interchangeably? not likely, although most will say it is the same thing.

Really, there is no point debating this between us two. I am as hard headed as yourself, correct? but, if you insist... then I am usually a sucker...

....that jude 24 is a nice verse, I like it quite well myself. yet it certainly alludes more to preservation that perseverance.

GG:

you are eluding from the original topic, mind you.

clever, but let us refocus your attempts.

My question is standing as a bulwark to your effort of preserving a vain tradition of man. Shall you come another round to batter the gates?

CBC:

I wanted to comment on this earlier but didn't have the chance.

I commend you, and your wife for the choice you have made here, for it is a choice for many, and many make the wrong choice!

I have one son and a child on the way. We plan on teaching our children at home, the way God intended as well. (Note: I understand when there is a single parent situation where that is not feasible). At the same time, I am a public school teacher! Would that be for myself, the pot calling the kettle black? Probably so. At the moment my son is only 17 months old, we have not started "schooling" per se, but we are certainly already teaching my son, and my wife does bear the burden of that work most of the day.

You stated: "we home-school because we love Jesus and our children."

All I can say to that is amen amen amen. You know as well as I do that the two main reasons that Christians keep their children in the public toilet is becuase 1) two incomes buys more stuff and 2) they are lazy.

Living on 1 income is tight, and doing the work at home will be a job, but it will be worth it all. The gov't is not responsible for our kids, we are!

So amen to you CBC, amen.

GG:

post 1: Your humor is lacking. Play the man master ridley!

post 2:

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

..so... both!

and, drum roll please... post 2

once again, let me get my crowns out for you so i can draw this picture. replace the duck example with a wolf example...

like such...

if it hunts like a wolf, preys on sheep like a wolf, and dress in sheep's clothing but are inwardly like a ravening wolf... it must be a wolf.

Now, did you like that done in blue or should i change it to yellow?

btw, gg, you get more and more clever by the minute, funnier too. who you taking notes from?

GG:

I will say though, that my conscience is like most, at least seared to some point... I do oft pray though, that God will break up this fallow ground where it has hardened and that he will cleanse the searing I have done.

I understand that admission of mine opens me for attack. But woe is me! Truth be truth!

You confusing something. My nieghbor, Mr. Clark is a nice guy. I don't have any qualms with him.

if you are referring to the pope... If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck... in this case, insert wolf for duck.

and actually, i am commanded in the Bible (that Book over on your shelf, gathering dust, yeah, that one there) to call out false teachers and prophets. would you like chapter and verse for that?

and alas, I must call him out, for my his own admission of faith, that of works, he is lost...

speaking the truth in love, lmw

GG:

"You're not paying attentions Bro. The Authority comes from Christ to Pope to priest...the ability comes from God."

Actually, I am paying very close attention. Can't you see where I am calling your every move?

I "see" where you are calling that move of power, from Christ, to Peter, to priest in your statement. It just doesn't hold water by the Bible.

Even if you were right on that passage saying that Peter was the first pope (which I hold as ludicrous mind you, due to lack of any Biblical evidence)... Where then would it state that Peter was then able to transfer that power to priests?

And once again, that passage in Matthew would have to be referring to the Lord's Supper, which it obviously isn't...

GG:

"Obviously...it is not up to you to pass judgement on the eternal resting place of any other believing Christian. Unless the real God died and left you in charge?"

Who's judging another Christian? We are talking about the pope, not a Christian. Your not paying attention GG.

Catholic Christian
Catholic Christian

Things that are different are not the same!

Note: I have know some Catholics to be saved.... maybe even suspected a pope or two, just not any lately.

CBC: being a religious fake and condemned to hell would certainly make one a moron, don't you think?

GG:

Just so all know what passage we are referencing.

Matthew 16:18-19 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Alright, that is a fine passage for a catholic to break their neck on peter being the first pope. But, sadly enough, I can't find anything on the priest having the power from God to turn bread to flesh and wine to blood. In fact, there is nothing mentioned in the whole chapter on the Lord's Supper.

So, strike one.

GG: you stated:

"the Church decided to pattern the early Church presbyters into the priesthood of Melchezdek and to follow the example of Christ the High priest"

I will assume you mean "the church" as in the rcc since you say, "the church decided to patter the early church". Looks like you have some tradition going on there, yet no Bible...

strike two...

And, (yawning), once again, "Where does the priest get ability to transform the bread and wine?"

Reading the title again, I honestly, mistakenly read it as,

Will Pope Benedict become a MORON after he dies?

Come on, Does the pope wear a dress? no brainer

why do the catholics on this site seem to be avoiding my question like the plague?

Real Presence:
GG:
Lance:
Any other catholic in the midst:

Since Real Presence won't answer my question, will any other catholic step up to the plate?

I asked, "Where does the priest get ability to transform the bread and wine?"
