Neil,

I truly thank you for your condolences.

Yes, I gave my formal testimony, discharged my duty, and realised it was time to flee. My testimony was followed by that of the victim, his resignation letter (that had not been read out because it was, well they said it was, "nasty"), by the written letter of the men concerned, and by the utter absence of biblical church discipline of course. Presumably, that was not objective enough or biblical enough.

The Lord gives much grace and encouragement in these times, but yes we do need to constantly watch and guard against bitterness. There is much benefit to our souls in being able to rest at night with a clear conscience. Outrage and anger? I think we need to keep that, but ensure that in our anger we do not sin. We have a biblical duty to warn too .....

It is astonishing how we can read about Mohammedan butchery and see exact parallels in our own theological circles. Yes, some perspectives have changed forever but again the scriptures tell us to expect such things - Diotrophes, Ananias and Sapphira. It is all to our profit in God's wisdom, and our first desire must always be that such men come to repentance.

What is the difference between the wicked self-righteous philosophy behind this Basiji Force and that of some wicked "pastors" in our day?

Those "pastors" who
-conspire in secret to bypass biblical church process (for, from their own lips, they know it condemns them),
-go in threes with their "gloves off" intimidating, threatening and making demands for instant resignations,
-commit perjury before the church and make false testimony to justify their wickedness.
Yes, these people are self-appointed soul-killers and no different to the murderous self-appointed judges, juries and executioners of the Basiji Force.

Note well "This is true even if the killer identified the victim mistakenly as corrupt." But yet the wickedness is just as wicked when the blessings of church membership, including loving rebuke and discipline, are denied to any of Christ's erring saints too.

By all means, flatter yourselves and have your private members only cosy theological clubs. But make no mistake - you false "pastors" you are not the Church of Jesus Christ. Mercy of mercies, there is still time to repent of your wicked ways. God is not mocked.

"They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work."

From memory, I don't recall Joseph and Pharoah demanding what would have been a full market price for their stores from 7 good years of harvests.

But of course, that government should not have been in the business of interfering in that market in the first place ..... according to some.

Usually but not always, depends on context.

btw, ask an Australian for their anti-drink drive slogan sometime. And no, it would not be used in Britain.

You just can't beat robust, consistent application of principle.

btw, in England the term "yank" applies to any American, whether they are from the north or the south. It's an excellent illustration of my point that what is said sounds different in different peoples ears. If you want to know if it is offensive or derogatory, ask the people you are talking about.

I have never heard a Briton ever say "Brit" except sarcastically. It's just not a part of our vocabulary. So when we see Smudge for example on SA saying "we Brits" it's a bit of a dead giveaway that he's not really British. Just a heads up.

"My aim is to try and keep people around the table for as long as possible on this, to understand one another," Williams said

No. Our aim should be to understand the mind of Christ.

Lurker,

I wouldn't worry at all about Sermonaudio's editor deleting your post when he permits blatant personal attacks such as

"Once a Papist, always a Papist."

and wildly ridiculous statements such as:

"all - You purposely distort and misrepresent that which I say in order to defend your own tradition. "

to stand.

If gun controls truly worked, Detroit and Washington, DC would be the most peaceful places in the country - all other things being equal.

So Bro. Williams, if you are not amen-ing the very significant growing proportion of doctors who are Moslem then who are you amen-ing?

If there was true heaven sent revival amongst the doctors I think we would have heard of it before now.

btw - you didn't get my goat, spot the smilie. The rudeness of sermonaudio's editor using slang language that is both unnecessarily offensive and a breach of their own standard of board etiquette is another matter though.

"The guy that committed this crime apparently was mentally unbalanced. Also not being a U.S. citizen, he might not have been able to purchase a gun under gun control regulations. Two reasons for screening him out."

If he was not screened out by the immigration service, I think you would be expecting a lot from any gun control regulator to do it.

Sadly, the fact that this guy was an overseas student will probably be sufficient reason for the US government to bury their heads in the sand in any event.

Personally, I suspect the guy was perfectly sane but just plain wicked.

I see it's contagious .... there's not enough room to type "doctors" now.

Interesting to see tacit approval from Sermonaudio's news choice and Bro Williams' amen for all the moslem doctors in Britain now. Personally, I regard it as a very mixed bag.

"There are times when you have a second child, and you've got to change a diaper. And you find yourself telling your (older) child that 'I will do anything you want if you will just stand here and behave,'" says Powell, who's 34.
"Sometimes, desperate situations call for desperate measures."

Whereas in previous generations you could tell your children in public that they will get a spanking if they misbehave. And then if necessary you could give them a spanking in that public place if they failed to behave. Yes, now that you will go to jail for such things, it is no surprise to hear parents resorting to "desperate measures" in ordinary everyday situations that have now become desperate.
Same also applies in Church of course.

Was there not enough room in the headline to write "British"?

Thank you Lance, appreciate the input on our musings.
I stand corrected on my guesswork that Arabic significantly predated Mohammedanism.

Bravo,

Indeed, it is not for me to question the veracity of your faith.

The scriptures state:
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie ....."
Obviously the context is not evolution but please look up the clause that follows with prayerfulness and enquire of the Lord. These are serious issues regarding the authority of the word of God.

Thank you Chris M for taking this thread up. In terms of the particular nuance that DB is applying we are agreed. (I don't think we've ever agreed as often on a single day before )

DB, my original point was just to deal with your "analogy" not to get into a discussion of the ideal plurality of pastors. There is bible exposition out there from a reformed baptist perspective for you to peruse if you so wish. Chris M (whilst not RB) is very much correct that in the light of the overwhelming evidence in the scriptures that the onus is very much on you to demonstrate the distinctive "sole pastor" view.

Michael - you raise a good question at the end of your bible quotations.
