Fellow Saint (& DB) Your assertion "I subscribe to neither Calvin nor Arminius"Sorry - I Don't accept that there is a third way. Many have come on site and arrogantly asserted themselves to be a "Biblicist" which is elitist and baloney. You have a theology like every other Christian in existence. TULIP is actually quite a good arbiter in doctrine. The basic point being whether God is in complete control of the move from unsaved to saved. AND whether man is Totaly Depraved thus can have zero input into the realm of salvation, without divine assistance. The other petals of the TULIP relate to these two points. I have heard some suggest that they are 4 point Calvinists for example? - But there is no such thing. Jacob Arminius raised the initial 5 points of his doctrine which is rife within the modern church. He started at the above two points and simply "negotiated" - a different deal for the sinner. As I have observed debate on the site for the last three years I can perceive the Calvinist and the Arminian (or synergist). Minor variations exist on particular points but ultimately the two way split is, and has been through history, of God's sovereignty - and sins power level over man; - or more/less on both points. |

Obvious Truth Your question "So let's hear it. You are the one who is claiming to be elect, that God came along and picked you out one day for keeps -- so tell us how you came to that conclusion, Mr. Smart Guy, okay?"The same way as Paul stated "But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth" 2Thes 2:13 I believe it. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36 I believe it. "He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son."1John 5:10 I believe it. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."Mark 16:16 I believe it. "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."John 3:18 I believe it. Don't you believe it Obvious Truth? Is this not obvious truth to you? |

Obvious Truth Well the question is simply answered. Are YOU alive IN Christ? Are YOU a Christian? - or not? 5 "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit." Rom 8. 10 And - *IF* - Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit IS LIFE because of righteousness. Here is another little *IF* OT. Now is your current status IN Christ or not? 11 But - *IF* - the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead DWELL IN YOU, he that raised up Christ from the dead SHALL ALSO QUICKEN YOUR MORTAL BODIES by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. OT Are you really saved? Are you really IN Christ? |

Obvious Truth The truth is obvious that YOU are looking at the wrong dead and alive states.Alive IN Christ happens now, Halleluiah!!! Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 1Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Phil 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |

Especially for Mike and Fellow Saint. The Biblical Doctrines of Grace T = Total Depravity U = Unconditional Election L = Limited Atonement I = Irrisistible Grace P = Perseverance of Saints. Your actual Arminian alternative is of course:- N = No I'm not as bad as the Bible says. O = On condition if I agree Lord N = No Limit except to Christs merits. R = Resisting God is easy S = Salvation might not happen. Hey fellas Keep working for it? Who knows maybe you'll get there despite your human efforts. ![](https://media.sermonaudio.com/images/web/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif) |

Norman Your "Seaton, you read me wrong, but you nasty guys can carry on biting and devouring one another""Nasty" - How pray did I earn that one??? As for debate with zeal Paul teaches Eph 5:11 "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are REPROVED are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." *((Reprove = Rebuke/Charge with fault)) 2John V10 "If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed" Thus do we zealously and fervently contend for the faith. As for your "If *nice* people are not wanted ,i will leave" Emotional Blackmail??? Whereas the True Christian has the power of Grace and faith to serve his Master and like Him be crucified to this world and still contend. "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world." Gal 6:14. See also Gal 2:20. With this kind of Grace, Love and Power who can be intimidated by a few epithets? Now please don't call me "nasty" Thats not "nice" God be with You. |

Abigail The Puritan Thomas Watson pointed out"Grace is carried on to perfection by Christ’s daily intercession. As the Spirit is at work in the heart, so is Christ at work in heaven. Christ is ever praying that the saint’s grace may hold out. Conserva illos; “Father, keep those whom thou hast given me:” keep them as the stars in their orbs: keep them as jewels, that they may not be lost. “Father keep them.”, John 17:7: That prayer which Christ made for Peter, was the copy of the prayer he now makes for believers. ‘I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not,’ that it be not totally eclipsed. Luke 22:22. How can the children of such prayers perish?" It would appear in your convictions that both Christ and the grace of God cannot defeat the poor old sinner. The promise of God is salvation. If you are convinced that man can defeat this purpose of God and Christ Crucified, then you are not in receipt of the love of the truth. Regards the verses you posted, eg. Gal 6:7/8, speak of TWO ways the flesh and the Spirit. Yes there is two? But you apparently believe the stronger of the two is flesh? Paul says 24 "who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord" Rom 7 Which do YOU have faith in? |

Norman Jesus, besides teaching more about hell than anybody, and telling some church goers they were going to hell, HE declared to the bishops of His day24 "Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also." Matt 23. I get the feeling from your posts that you disapprove of Jesus words to the Pharisees, Sadducees et al. That instead, you would rather the Lord use "nice" words to everybody??? What say you? |

Cheryl Believe the promise. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I GIVE unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which GAVE THEM ME, is greater than all; and NO MAN is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. _______ps:: 1Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: |

NO!The Bible does not teach this. Rom 12:6 Having then gifts *DIFFERING* according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 1Cor 12:28 And God hath set *SOME*(VIZ NOT ALL) in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 1Cor 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Eph 4:11 And he gave *SOME*(NOT ALL), apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Just read the Book. |

JD Can I add a few more to DB's selection. It seems the Lord here dares to contradict your teaching. Prov 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words. 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. ps JD your not justifying the wicked are you? Prov 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. BTW theres more if you require. ![](https://media.sermonaudio.com/images/web/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif) |

"Open Doors, a ministry that serves persecuted Christians worldwide, says this is largely due to a surge in Hindu fundamentalism." Islamic fundamentalism and now Hindu fundamentalism. Growing belligerence in these idolatrous philosophies? We'd better steer well clear of this. Alternatively We could immigrate and integrate it into our own western societies?? Nuh Surely nobody would be that stupid would they? ![](https://media.sermonaudio.com/images/web/images/smilies/what.gif) |

Paul talks about "menpleasers" in Ephesians and Colossians, there he is addressing the servant and his master. But the term "menpleaser" is very apt to the Liberal church, such as the Anglicans. This prayer for Diana is about the Ch. of England grovelling (playing) to their public, and not about help for Diana, or prayer to God. It demonstrates their blindness in Scripture truth and in true worship of God. The popish prayers for dead is bound up with purgatory, - perhaps that is where the Archbishop thinks Diana is??? However he will never declare that to his public. 2Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:...." Sad really isn't it. |
