I always did place an offering, it's just that I didn't use the envelopes provided, and he assumed no giving. I stopped using envelopes because of disagreement over use of the booklet which came out at the end of the year listing who gave, and how much. Never did use the envelopes after that. Point is, I could have been sent away over that issue alone. But having found an old Bible in the attic of the house we purchased not long after, it wasn't long until I left voluntarily.
