John UK...

What you are feeling is pretty typical of those who live in a Calvinistic bubble. If anyone quotes the Bible to them and it doesn’t line up with what they were taught by men, then that person bringing the gospel truth must be a demon! You are playing into the Calvinist stereotype, but that’s your free choice to do so! Funny how the Biblical and traditional viewpoint is now considered demonic by Calvinist! Especially when one considers Calvinism is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Saint Augustine and really only took hold of the church about 500 years ago. I guess everyone was demonic 1500 years before Calvinism came along!

The cross proves Jesus was sinless and didn’t take on the culpability of anyone else’s sin or else He would not have been raised. He would still be under judgement. He was called the spotless lamb for a reason! It seems to me to be a system of works to say that you are saved because of what God did in paying the punishment for your sins. What about all of the other time you did not sin? It becomes God plus you’re works will carry you to eternal life. It’s a system of getting to eternal life by how you lived your life with Jesus filling in the gaps. I depend on being in Christ who alone is righteous. Without His righteousness an

God isn’t proven anything. He is omniscient. I was speaking about us. The death of Christ proves who He is because it was foretold in prophecy. His resurrection is proof to us that He was righteous and met all of the requirements of the law. Jesus was not guilty of His sin or anyone else’s or He would have remained dead.

I’ve never said that I don’t believe God forgives sins! You, on the other hand, must believe that there are no sins to forgive if they were somehow punished at the cross!

The cross is how Jesus proved His innocence before God because if He was guilty of sin, He would have remained in the grave. However, Jesus didn’t remain in the grave. That is because He alone is righteous. Only sinners will be eternally punished by God. Jesus was not, is not, and never will be a sinner deserving punishment.

Where do I get that from? You have said that Jesus had to pay whatever penalty was due to a person for their sins to be forgiven. Therefore, a person would have all of their sins forgiven and there would be no need for forgiveness or imputed righteousness because that person would already be in righteous standing having no sin held against them.

The punishment Jesus suffered was physical death on the cross. “Cursed is everyone who hangs on tree”. Not in my place because I deserved death while Jesus did not. Nowhere does it ever teach in the Bible that Jesus suffered the everlasting punishment for anyone’s sin or that anyone is righteous due to their meritorious standing with God, having Jesus somehow perfected the requirements of the law within them.

In your convoluted logic, what would be the point of having Christ righteousness imputed to someone if they are already righteous because He paid the penalty for their sin?

Well bless your heart!

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:13‬

Jesus laid down His life to redeem the world. That was the cost of it. Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world because He alone is righteous thereby appeasing the requirements of the law which God demands, in and of Himself. He is our propitiation. Those requirements are not met within ourselves by Jesus. Jesus Himself met them and nobody else meets them unless they are in the one who met them.

The err...nonsense, is getting pretty high from you. Did you actually read the passage? It says people are justified IN CHRIST! It is in Jesus that one’s guilt is appeased, it is the righteousness of Christ which cancels the penalty for one’s sin, not our own righteousness. We ain’t righteous!

The problem is you see Jesus as your Savior in the past tense based off of what you think He did on the cross. The Bible, however, teaches that Jesus is the Savior in the current tense because it is in Him that one is saved whenever they believe. You suppose He made you righteous by suffering all of the punishment for all of your sin, making you innocent. While the Bible teaches believers are saved in Christ by His righteousness because He alone is The Righteous One.

How can there be another temple when God now dwells in believers? The Jews can build it, but that doesn’t make it a real temple of God.

John UK...

Oh please! FYI, Jesus died for the sins of the whole world without spending trillions of lifetimes in eternal damnation to do it. Secret...it’s not about you and your righteousness because you still don’t have any, even after the cross, it’s about Jesus and being clothed in His righteousness.

Just because you don’t have ears to hear doesn’t mean it’s demonic dribble! I showed you how God works in the hearts of all people through the word of God by the preaching of the gospel.

Adriel...

I get that there is a difference between carnal and spiritual. Do you also get that a believer can be carnal? That right there should show you that carnal people can be saved. Romans 8 pertains to the law and how we won’t obey it.

“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:7‬

That doesn’t mean one can’t believe in Christ because...wait for it...faith isn’t a work of the law!

Neil from Tucson....

The Bible teaches it can go in the hand also. Amazing this stuff is becoming a reality and people are mocking it instead than seeing it as a fulfillment of prophecy. How would they have known about something like this 2,000 years ago without God revealing it to them?

Okay, remain in your ignorance then, SMH. As I pointed out, God works in the hearts of all people. How does He do that? Oh yeah, the Word of God. We were talking about God and you got confused. My point was valid, God works in everyone’s heart through His word. Jesus was the Word and He was sent so that whosoever believes in Him will be saved.

Adriel...

So your response is to say read the WCF? Really?! The Bible tells us faith is not a work. Couldn’t you as a believer just agree with that? Instead you want to pretend that God has to put a magic spell on someone to make them believe? Why? Where do you get that from? Even all of those verses referenced in the WCF don’t say that!

You really need to read the Bible without all of the commentary. Read it anew and pray that God will clear your mind from all of the dogma and human philosophy that has polluted your mind.

There is no refuting the word of God, so you try to demonize me. I understand, you have nothing else to go to. If the Holy Spirit can do it another way, I imagine He could, the Bible doesn’t say. It only teaches that God has chosen the foolishness of the preaching of the gospel to do it. There is no other way! God then has mercy on who He will...those who repent and believe!

Adriel...

Faith is not a work, so salvation isn’t by works. Salvation is by grace to believers. In John 6, who was Jesus talking about?

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬

Those who will be drawn to Jesus are those who have first learned of the Father. Anyone who didn’t believe in the Father, also did not believe in His Son. Those who did believe in the Father, also believed in His Son.

The word of God reveals the heart of a person by how that person responds to the message. It’s what led to the conviction of the Jews on Pentecost! Furthered by more gospel preaching to answer the question, “What must we do?”

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:14, 16-17‬

It is only through the gospel that one can believe, yet you say the gospel doesn’t produce conviction of sin! Lol. It doesn’t mean everyone who hears will obey it.

The fact that I don’t believe you just means you are wrong.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬

Sounds good to me!

Just a Guy...

“And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:26-29‬

Sounds an awful lot like today to me. Add to that Israel’s return as a nation and I’d say we have maybe 20 years left.

John UK...

What do you think preaching is for if not for pricking the heart? It is through preaching that one may believe. God works in the hearts of everyone and yet they don’t always believe. That isn’t God’s fault, as if He fatalistically determined for the person to do so. God would rather have the whole world believe in Jesus and be saved.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:37-38‬

Er...sounds like they could repent and be baptized to receive eternal life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬

As a matter of fact, whoever wants to may have eternal life! Isn’t it good to know God loves the world that much?

Something happened to me yesterday when using Tik Tok. I liked a video and then two seconds later my phone warned me that someone from Sri Lanka was trying to sign in to my account. I wonder if it is some kind of app like the app that can show you what you look like when your old that supposedly the Russians were using to hack into people’s phones?

Your words aren’t of Christ. The whole world hates Christ! Jew and Gentile alike. You sound a lot like Martin Luther and that’s not a good thing!
