What problem with a literal interpretation of Revelation do you have?

If you want to understand the book of Revelation, you need to understand the other 65 books of the Bible, particularly the old testament.

Lurker writes:
What is the wrath of God and when do you believe it is poured out? If during the tribulation..... you're mistaken.

Something I'd like to point out, it probably won't be popular but oh well. If we consider that God destroyed the earth and every one of its inhabitants save 8 souls in the great flood, how can the wrath God pours on the earth during the tribulation according to pretrib theology be worse? At least during the tribulation people will still have a chance to get saved. The whole world caught up in flood had no chance of redemption whatsoever. That being said, upon Christs return its game over and God will have his vengeance upon the wicked and they will be resigned to their fate for all eternity. A most frightful event.

2 Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

You have to erase secular reasoning and experience propaganda from your mind to understand Scripture. Its something only the Holy Ghost can do for you, as without the Spirit man is spiritually dead unable to comprehend the true light of Scripture.

Totally agree. Before I read the Bible I pray that the Lord will guide me in my studies, and reveal any false beleifs I may hold to.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

James Thomas writes:
Where is the verse on literal interpretation?

There isn't one. The dispensationalist arbitrarily insists on a consistent literal interpretation, but where does the Bible teach such a hermeneutic? Scripture interprets scripture, that is the approach I take. One must take the whole of scripture into consideration when it comes to eschatology.

Perhaps Jim if you unglued your fingers from your keyboard, put aside your 'study' Bibles, and actually studied your Bible, snd stopped worshipping at the altar of Protestant popes and 'doctors' God would actually teach and show you wonderful things from His Book, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little.

Jim is incapable of making an argument for himself, so he bombards us with links and quotes nobody will read, and arbitrarily accuses us of eisegesis, even though the only way you will get a pretrib rapture out of scripture is if you read it into the text. Dispensationalism is full with contradictions so silly, that I can't believe its taken seriously by so much of the church.

Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

So in this imaginary millennium, what would be God's message to sinners? Circumcision? Two turtle doves after birth? Attendance at the Temple? Pilgrimage to Jerusalem three times a year for the festivals? Passover reinstituted? Yom Kippur all over again? Daily sacrifices?

Heresy plain and simple.

imo- The danger are for those Christians that build their foundation on that eschatology and not the Gospel. I know plenty of dispensationalists that Love the Lord, and the eschatology is just what they expect because their Pastor told them what they should expect.

I use to be a dispy, but the more I read the Bible in my personal studies, the more contradictions I found. It especially came apart after I learned the truths of the doctrines of grace.

I don't hold it against those who hold to dispensationalism since I believed it once myself. However, I find the premil belief that Jews will go back to animal sacrifices pretty disgusting. But I know not all premils believe that.

Lurker writes:Second is calling this temple the "Millennial Temple". In my mind, the very first thing to do in an argument is make an iron clad, objective case from scripture that this temple actually will be built, served, and by whom during the reign of Christ. But not a word....... just an assumption and then building an argument on that assumption. Very poor argumentation.

Reminds me of how premils use Amos 9:11 as a proof text, even though James tells us in Acts 15 that this was fullfilled when the gospel went out to the gentiles to take out of them a people for Gods name.

That's rich. Hillary only appeals to low information voters and sycophants who will toe the party line no matter how unqualified the candidate.

Kev writes:
The whole idea of them rebuilding the temple that is in Ezekiel made me think if they started offering sacrifices for atonement of sin after Jesus did that I would have to say would be a horrible thing and directly against so many things.

To believe that God would return to types and shadows after offering himself on the cross in the person of Jesus Christ for the atonement our sins is beyond preposterous. This is what happens when you stick to a dogmatic literal interpretation no matter how silly instead of interpreting scripture with scripture.

Youth in Asia from China writes:
To me personally i don't see the purpose of the tribulation for Christians, and it seems to me the scriptures are mute on any divine punishment on God's children.

According to dispensationalism lots of come to Christ during the tribulation, so what's the difference?
